I just bought 2 misty mates at BJ's club. When I brought them home my husband thought I was crazy. He said he was not toting that thing around all day. We are going at the end of June and know it is going to be hot. We have gone in the late spring and have use the fan misters when it was hot, the mister fan was a pain to carry around all day. The misty mate we have are the regular size and they don't look any bigger than a large drinking bottle. Please tell me how you use and carry the misty mate at Disney and how you like it. Thanks:) :)

Hi, We have the misty mates and we use them a lot. What I'm planning on doing is filling them up in the morning and hanging them on my daughters stroller. When we get hot we will misty ourselves. I have also purchased small battery operated fans from the Dollar Tree store. They are about 3 inches tall. So after misting we will use the fan to even cool off more.

If you do not have a child in a stroller my misty mate has a strap with a buckle that can be place around your waist.

We live in Louisiana and when I walk in the summer time that is how I use my misty mate. It is also great at the beach. My kids love misting themselve on the beach. Hope this helps.

I have several types of these, the really small one that needs an air hose or bicycle pump to charge and the large one with the pump built in. I got these many years ago for going to Car Races where you sit all day in the stands and it gets really hot.
I am one of those people that now have cut way back on the stuff I take to the park. My Misty Mates collect dust at home along with backpack and a whole bunch of other things. I take a hand towel and a few of those scented prepackaged towelettes I think in watermelon and apple and that is enough. At every park with the possible exception of AK there are plenty of nice cool attractions to get out of it for awhile.
If you are using a stroller like kbuck mentioned then I would recommend taking them along. I have been amazed in the past seeing strollers with huge piles of survival goods hanging from everywhere.
One last note please be careful when you spray them they can throw out a cloud and people nearby may not like it especially if they wear glasses.

We went during July 4th last year, and I loved having my Misty Mate. Mine had the strap to wear it like a fanny pack. I filled mine with ice each morning to make it even cooler. I particularly appreciated having it at the Animal Kingdom.

I also wear mine like a fanny pack. Also fill mine up about halfway with ice. I fill it up in the morning, pump it up, and strap it on just like my fanny pack. Don't notice that it really ways anything as I am usually the pack horse of my family anyway. I then thread the hose under my arm and clip the nozzle on my collar. That way it is in easy reach of whoever needs a quick spray.

This was such a 'necessity' that my ds 10, said he would carry it! That is how much he wanted to take it along. We go during the summer months and it is great to fill w/ ice and water and have something nice to cool off with. Don't forget a hand towel or face cloth to wipe off with!

I fill our's with ice & water that has melted in the ice bucket overnight! It definitely stays cold for the major part of the day. My son is more than happy to wear it around his waste...and LOVES being able to be in CHARGE of who gets cooled down! ;)

Some ride qeue areas are so hot in the summer (like space mountain's) that having a misty fan is great. It really heped my kids keep cooler.

not sure if mine was defective but its in a garbage can at the magic kingdom! It put out way to much water, looked like I was "hosed off" , they are not heavy with waste pack , but they are better with cold water, as the day got hot it felt like hot water being poured on. My sister laughed at me every time I used it. I prefer the little battery fans without the water. MKY:earsboy:  :earsboy:  :earsboy:

WE filled ours when we arrived at park with water froim cooler. They work great! The hubby loved it on the tea cups. He misted to survive the sick! :p
We liked having it for a squirt on the neck in a line and the kids felt a lot cooler getting a blast every now and then!

Do they come in different sizes? I bought 2 at BJ's last week ($25?) and used one this weekend while gardening, but I think it might be cumbersome to carry around the parks all day. Maybe a smaller one might do, if they make them.

Used ours for the 1st time last weekend at Disney. The day we went to Epcot was very hot and the Misty Mate felt great. I strapped it on like a fanny pack. (I also was carting around a fanny pack and water bottle around my waist. I did feel like a pack mule, but I could eat, drink and be cool!) The mist definately cooled us off.

Your DH will thank you!
This is definately a Need in the hot months!
We did what everyone else did, filled it with cold water and ahhahhh!
We had a stoller so we just hung it on that.
Have fun! and take the Misty mates!

I guess we are in the minority here but we found the misty mates to be troublesome and a burden to carry around.....I like to carry as little as possible, not only were they a pain to carry they got us too wet, and we each carried a small wash cloth to wipe off the excess water....You do have to be careful or you mist other people too, often who do not appreciate it...We took them two days to the park and abandoned them as useless. They are now nicely in my closet gathering dust for when we go to the beach..who cares if you get soaking wet there...:( :( :( :( :(
