Rented points today for a last minute trip next week. Please share why I will LOVE OKW so that I can get excited.

- I've stayed 100+ times onsite, usually stay at POR, would stay at BWI if I had the $$$ each trip

- stayed at every resort EXCEPT OKW and SSR (never went the points route before, will definitely do it again!)

- I've eaten at Olivia's for bfast, and liked the quiet

- I am in a full service, four star hotel room 20 days/month, and don't let housekeeping into my room except maybe once, so I don't care about the towel/trash service - it'll be what I am used to

- I like the serene resorts ie POR over the active ones like POP

- renting a car, rarely take the busses

- love taking the boat from POR to DTD

So, all you OKW fans, tell me how much I will LOVE OKW, and please share your favourite aspects so that I can excited!! THANKS!!

I ma booked at OKW for May...for a romantic anniversary trip with DH. We are on a wait list for BWV (I have never stayed at either resort...just prefer BWV for the location) but I am think I will love OKW if that is where we end up. And now, after reading this post...I am SURE we will! Thanks! :cheer2:

We are booked at OKW for Oct 25th - Nov 4th in a 1 bedroom. We stayed there out last trip Halloween 2003 and I am not sure I would be happier anywhere else. We just LOVE it there.

All the things you said you loved about POR are true of OKW PLUS the bright decor, vacation home feel, parking outside your door, and HUGE rooms! Not sure I would drive when the buses drop you off where they do. I hate searching the parking lots for a car I don't recognize! :teeth: The only place we will sometimes drive to is AK and usually to dinner ressies at other resorts.

I am a very proud member of DVC since 1992 and OKW is my home resort. To say that I adore it would be faint praise! It is like being home, only better! The rooms are exceptionally spacious and beautifully decorated in warm, muted shades. It is quiet and has a lovely setting. Walking around the complex, I am always reminded how lucky I am to be a part of it all. Olivia's is wonderful.....we always visit at least twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Taking a water launch over to DTD is great fun and very relaxing. I love sitting on the balcony each morning, drinking my coffee and watching the birds and the activities of the day start up. Visiting the parks is actually kind of tough because I am loathe to leave the unit! That's how nice it is. And we especially love sharing its beauty with our extended family, all of whom are equally besotted! It is our way of being together without the stress of finding things that everyone enjoys.....there is so much to do, no one is bored, least of all the "born to shop" crowd! Most of all, I love to hear "Welcome Home"! Kind of corny, but it sounds wonderful each and every time! I've always thought they were the loveliest words in any language!

I think you will be enchanted with OKW. It is a lovely vacation home with all the amenities of home (we don't have a Jacuzzi at home, though! ) and none of the stress.

We stayed at OKW for the first time this past January. I must admit, I was somewhat worried about the size of the resort, but it wasn't hard to get around at all and we didn't have a car. OKW is so laid back. It was wonderful to truly "come home" after being in the parks. The room size is incredible. We were in a one-bedroom which was bigger than our first apartment!

I agree with lauran, OKW will change your life. We are now proud owners at SSR and will not hesitate to stay at OKW again.

If you are in a one bedroom or bigger...

The Jacuzzi is built for 2...bigger than any other on site DVC

...or 3 or 4 with young kids. Family tub time is great. :grouphug:

Mommy/Daddy tub time is even better :lovestruc

Thanks for all the positive replys! I feel very good about my choice.... renting points worked out sooooooooooooo well and I will definitely do it again in future!!

We stayed at OKW for the first time last month and WE LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! The size will just spoil you! We stayed our last two nights at AKL and believe it or not, we missed OKW!! Won't make the mistake again of staying in a regular hotel the first part of our stay. Going from 1000+ sq. ft to just around 300 or so sq. ft. is a big letdown. Granted, AKL was beautiful and we enjoyed it-- we just won't stay at OKW first next time!

We will definitely be back at OKW! Next trip though is BCV 1 bdrm (F&W Fest--want to be close to Epcot). I have a feeling we will be very disappointed in the size of the 1 bdrm at BCV.

Just to make sure you heard... we LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!

OKW ROCKS!!!! :rockband:

So I shouldn't feel bad that BWV was not available? :)

I just like walking to MGM and World Showcase..... but I do also love being in the POR area...

And I guess that BWV will always be there for a future stay, right??

OKW is just one of the beautiful resorts available from DVC. It sounds like you will enjoy it from what you have written. We love all of the DVC resorts and they all have their own special atmospheres.

Thanks you guys...even though I didn't ask the questions they were lurking in my head since we just booked our first trip to OKW. We just purchased our SSR points at Thanksgiving and June 1 is our use year start. We've had our first trip to SSR booked since January and found some extra time in our schedules so said what the heck and got lucky with availability at OKW. Someone posted that they almost hated leaving the resort to go into the parks and that is kind of what we are planning...we've had a pretty stressful 2005 and need to just relax and I think OKW will do the trick.

Thanks again!

:cool1:

Oh yes, have I mentioned the spaciousness of the homes?
I think that you will have a wonderful time at OKW and mayu well get spoiled for any other resort!

Own at BWV, but have never stayed there. Our first trip was to OKW and now DH won't hear of going anywhere else!!
Big rooms
Quiet/relaxed atmosphere
Boat to DTD
Easy access
Views of the golf course and lakes
The wildlife
Can see fireworks from some of the rooms & main pool

I always suggest the others (for some variation), but he always sticks with OKW!

P.S. I like OKW too, so I don't mind staying there!

While I love all the DVC resorts and each has their own charms, it is OKW I would pick if I could only stay in one for the remaining 30-plus years. It has a magical charm to it that suits our family, a calming effect of sorts. I just feel like I let out all the stress in one big breath when we pull up here... I could easily stay here a month and not miss home because it is so "comfortable" to be there... I like that you can park right near your room and therefore handle your own luggage... No bellhops or valets to deal with, unless you want help. I like the location, close to DTD and offsite groceries and restaurants. To me it looks like a wonderful little town. ENjoy!

We love everything that the other posters have said. But, what really caps it for me is the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. Because it is not "close" to the parks, the whole atmosphere is much more laid back. It feels like an escape from the rush of the parks, and even though it is huge, it never feels crowded. It is absolutely my favorite DVC resort. And of course, those top my all time favorite list.

Room size, Mickey head railings, seashells in the sidewalks, main pool with slide, quiet pools that are quiet, lovely grounds to walk, the walking path to SSR & DTD, marina with little boat to DTD, marina with boats you can rent, lovely views of woods, golf course, or water from pretty much every room, casual relaxing "beachy" theme, strolling the grounds in the evening, coffee on your balcony overlooking something nice, homey, townlike feel, colors used in decorating, the wildlife that's around(especially the cute little ducks), being on a golf course(especially if you are a golfer).

You didn't mention, but hopefully you're in a 1-B/R or larger.

If you're in a Studio, then you may be a little disappointed. Personally I like the Studios at the other DVC resorts more than the OKW Studios.

I wish the Studios @ OKW would be 1 bed and a couch.

It would give the room a more "room" feel IMHO.
