Tell me how kid swap works...

We usually drag a grandparent or someone along to watch our kids while we go on the big rides....it's just DH and I with our 3 boys this time and we don't want to have to miss out on the big rides because they are just too little to go on them yet.

So, how does the kid swap thing actually work??

Well, we usually don't find this necessary until one of our kids is really misbehaving. When that happens we just watch carefully for another child who seems to have some self-control, approach their parent, and kindly ask if they would like to swap.

Oh, wait, you said something about rides....wrong swap.

Anyway, because we have one child who is afraid of most thrill rides and one who loves them, we had to do the swap last week when we were there a good bit. We had done this before on ToT and they still do it the same way, but all the other rides had a different procedure from what is posted and what ToT does, so here goes:

On ToT, just tell the CM at the beginning of the ride (and tell every other one as well) and the first parent rides the ride when they get to the elevator. (Everyone goes through the hotel and hears the Rod Serling spill). The other parent is escorted to the room where you come out after the ride and waits until you get off. They he goes straight to the elevator and rides.

The rest of the rides we did this on were EE, Splash Mountain, Dinosaur and Maelstrom. On each of these rides, they told the riding parent to go ride the ride. Then they handed the parent waiting with the child a pass that is good for up to three people called the "Rider switch off card" and they had to wait outside. Then when the first parent came back, the second parent had to go through the fast pass lane with this card and wait with the other fast pass line people. The bad news about this is that it takes a little longer because some fast pass lines are longer. The good news is that it is good for up to three people, so other parties can ride twice if they want. My second daughter rode with both of us for all these rides.
