As I go round and round trying to decide where to eat - it's just so darned hard to pick - I'm leaning toward the character meal at Liberty Tree Tavern. Sounds like some good old fashioned American food. Tell me your experiences - good, bad and ugly please. I need to hear it ALL! :D Thanks guys.

DH & I went in January and really liked it. We had salad, ham, turkey, flank steak, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, veggies, and boston cream pie for dessert. The characters were great.
Afterward we sat in the rockers on the front porch and watched Spectromagic.

Although I wasn't overly thrilled with most of the food at LTT, the salad was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I enjoyed the flank steak too. my advice is to choose the ice cream for dessert, the "boston cream pie" wasn't very good IMHO.

Most of the characters were great. Chip, Dale, Pluto & Goofy were fantastic. Minnie was so-so. Let me put it this way, I have ONE PICTURE of Minnie. Chip & Dale have their own page in my scrapbook, Goofy has a page and Pluto has TWO pages.

We went in February--the characters took their time and circled the rooms three times each while we were there. The food was really good, and the waitstaff friendly and didn't rush us. The one thing--the food is kind of heavy, sort of like Thanksgiving. We went on an E-night, and I wouldn't do that again....I think lighter meals are better especially before riding the mountains!!!!!!

We did the character dinner- I think the thing that sets this apart is theming and their costumes- the tavern really makes you feel like you're in the late 1700's and you could turn around and see Ben Franklin sipping ale. We LOVED the food- it was very tasty-
baked ham, turkey/dressing, pot roast or some type of beef, maccaroni and cheese, corn, green beans and a salad. I felt the characters did a much better job here than any character meal we've been to (Chef Mickey's, Breakfastsaurus).
I felt like we had Goofy at our table the whole time! He kept trying to sneak ds's food. I would say it's nice to request a table with a bench- that way the characters can take a rest and sit next to you (that's probably why they were at our table all the time- they needed the break!) Some tables just have four chairs and the characters can't really sit with you.
You'll love it and want to go back!

GrinningGhost,

Liberty Tree Tavern has become a tradition with us. The food is servied homestyle, starting with a lovely sald and rolls and then flank steak, turkey, veggies, macaroni cheese and then if you want to you can have a dessert, which is additional to the buffet price. Although the place is quite large and usually busy it always has a relaxed, turn of the century feel to it. The bonus is that it contains my all time favourite disney character Minnie Mouse.

Re: Dessert

I thought dessert was extra too, but when we were there in January they just brought out the boston cream pie (which I really liked). There was no additional charge. Maybe this is new??

That sounds like what 'ohana's does. The pineapple and carmel come with the meal, but you can order dessert off of the menu if you want something else. Maybe Disney is trying something new at LTT.

We ate dinner at the LTT Tavern just a few weeks ago. The food, service, and characters were all great . I would definintely recommend it!
