I've never stayed at SSR, and was wondering abt it's quick service place. Does it have fountain drinks for filling the refillable mugs? Anybody know if there is unsweetened iced tea there? Lemonade? Also is there a section of the resort that I should try to request to be closer to it?

I don't remember a whole lot...but being used to CSR the choices were much more limited but more upscale. They do have fountain drinks but I don't remember what they had...although I'm pretty sure they had iced tea.

Maybe someone else can help you with the name of the section...but if you ask to be near the main pool...the food court is right next to it.

You want the Springs section, it is closest to the food court however it is the last bus stop so if you are relying on Disney transportation the buses may be full or standing room only by the time they reach this stop.
As for food choices or drink cant say, my first trip to SSR is not till October!:goodvibes

The Springs is where you want to be, and Artists Palette is where you fill your refillable mug.

The food is good there, but the selection is very limited.

Artist's Palette Menu

There are also grab and go items.....fruit, muffins, that sort of thing.

If you don't have anything else at Artisit Palette, make sure that you have the home made potato chips! They are to die for!

Yes, they have unsweetend iced tea. But it is not fresh brew sun tea type. WDW primarily uses a nestea product. It is unsweetened and they have sugar, splenda and lemons available. Sorry I don't remember about the lemonade, but I would assume it is Minute Maid.

Since you asked about the mugs I thought I would mention you can also refill a mug at the pool bar at the main pool outside of AP. We happened to sit near there at the pool last month and had brought our mug to fill inside - the pool bar was much more convenient. If you're staying at the Springs that mug station will be even closer to your room when the pool bar is open.

Thanks for all the info! I'll put in a request for the closer bldg. Not sure if we'll have a car or not. I'm hoping we do since MK and AK seem really far.

I have stayed at the quite a few of the Disney resorts, and we are staying at Saratoga Springs this trip partially to save money on dining. There quick service is one of my favorites. There are tons of choices compared to resorts like beach club, and the food is great with awesome specials each day. When I get back next week I will be happy to give you an idea of how it was this trip and I specifically check for unsweetened iced tea, that is all my beau drinks and lemonade. The only hotel quick service I like better is Animal Kingdom Lodge, lots of interesting choices and healthy choices.

But the lines are LOOOOOONG at breakfast.
REALLY long. There is actually a blurb on Disney TV information channel to not go to breakfast at peak times.
What I won't go through for a Mickey Waffle....

Oh yeah, I love The Mara at AKL too. Their couscous salad is SO GOOD!

They have unsweetened iced tea, that is usually all I drink and I remember getting it there twice a day! The food choices are pretty limited though, there were tons more at POR when we stayed there. I remember getting a pizza at the AP and it was really good, I think I got it everytime we ate there.

I told you I would check. They do have both unsweetened ice tea, minute maid light fountain lemonade, and a very well calibrated hot cocoa machine. For food I had a great chicken, artichoke and spinach flat. They also had veggie, pepperoni, buffalo chicken and cheeseburger. My boyfriend had the dinner special one night that was a half rotisserie chicken, mash potatoes, and a full ear of corn on the cob, the chicken was amazing. They also have sandwiches and wraps, and a chicken alfredo. We only ate here once during the trip. While at the parks we did sit down meals (we have no kids and enjoy the breaks) and with friends in town we went to dinner off property a couple of times. There is a Buffalo Wild Wings in crossroads, if your kids like it, they had 50 cent wings on Tuesday.

p.s. We stayed in the Grandstand which was just a short walk to the main building, but I can imagine much quieter than the Springs. We were in 8532 which I wouldn't recommend because it is on the first floor, but I would definately ask for the building. Next to the pool and a short walk to the food court and open space behind, also lots of parking.
