Costco has a coupon for this and I was wondering if it's worth the cost?
My kids love to make smoothies and I think that would be it's main purpose. I need something that crushes ice really well. Would love your thoughts. Thanks!

We have the larger Ninja 1000 mixer and love it for crushing ice! Finally have found an affordable mixer that truly crushes ice. We looked at the Master Prep, but 2 things made us move up. First, after looking closely and watching some video's online, we didn't like how it operated. You have a button on top that you have to hold down to blend continously or press multiple times for pulse. And it's not a simple press with one finger type of push. You have to put some force into it. The other is the motor power. Like you, we really were looking for something that crushed ice really well (smoothies and daquiri's!). The Master Prep has a 450 watt motor. Ours has a 1000 watt motor. Since we went with the larger, I can't speak directly to the Master Prep as for usage. We are very happy with the 1000 though.

Here's a review showing how well it crushes ice (between the 4:00 and 5:30min mark):

Here's the same guy showing it making a smoothy without ice:

we love our Ninja, I teased my dh about ordering it from the infomercial, but it has been great. DH is a chef and he always hated regular blenders because the blade was in the bottom. He was thrilled when he saw the ninja though kicking himself for not inventing it. My 11 year old son makes himself a smoothie every morning, no issues with dragging out the blender attaching everything- very easy to clean as well. The ninja is extremly easy to use and clean and does an excellent job on mixing. We've used it for smoothies, milkshakes, chicken salad & soups so far. One of these days I'm going to make hummus in it.

We love our Ninja! We use it for all kinds of things. Our favorites are pumpkin milkshakes and guacamole. The kids like it when we crush the ice real fine and make snow cones, too! St. Nick brought it for me last year - best gift of the season.
