After swearing I'd never do laminate ever ever ever ever again - we're looking into giving it another shot. The floor I really want is way out of our price range, so laminate it is. I've been looking at Mohawk Country Cottage, and Mannington Revolutions. Anyone have these brands? The hardest part is picking a color! I love the look of med/dark wood but I'm afraid to do it in my home. Tell me what you love and hate about your laminate!

I love mine. We bought Armstrong- it was the middle of the road price, just a few cents cheaper than Pergo. But, we picked it because of the color. Ours looks like an old wooden floor, which goes great in my kitchen!!

Hmmm- besides the color: I love- the easy clean-up (sweep/swiffer- no mopping); It handles my hyper-active 70lb lab mix with ease, so I know kids will be fine; it's virtually indestructible (unlike our hardwoods in the BR's, which are scratched ALL OVER). And it was affordable and easy for us to install ourselves.

The laminate will also be going in my kitchen. Did you match your cabinets, or is it a totally different color altogether? That's one of the problems I'm having, is matching the floor to the cabinets. One floor guy said the contrast is nice, another told me that you want to at least be close. I'll have to check out Armstrong...

I have 16 inch tile in my kitchen & dining room but the rest of the downstairs is laminate. A medium to light color, I do not know if it is oak or maple. If you want a pic let me know.

I'd love to see a pic! :thumbsup2

Does you laminate go up to the tile? We are looking into the laminate, but I was not sure how it would look going right up to the tile.
I would love to see pictures...

I have laminate in my kitchen. The cabinets and flooring don't match but they are friendly. The floor is a touch lighter but they are in the same tones. I have seen them lighter, darker and matching. I do like the ones that are close in color the best.

What a dificult choice. Everyones likes are so different. Good luck. I just had to do it a year or so ago. Stress!!!

The color is a tad bit darker. The sunshine makes it look lighter.

We have a Wilsonart laminate in our Foyer. Easy to clean, too. We've had ours almost a year and with DD5 & a dog - no scratches yet! It seems like it's virtually indestructible!

That's lighter than what would work in my house, but that's beautiful! I love the tile!

Hi - We just had Mannington Revolutions installed last week! I actually butted it against a piece of medium oak hardwood as we have a step down to the great room. The shade is a bit off but the look of the wood and manningon plank are identical. I have real hardwood in my front foyer and I was nervous but it is great. I put it right over out old ceramic that had cracks in it. It sounds different than hard wood when you walk on it but looks great. Today we had the new counters installed and it looks like a whole new kitchen. I went from everything white with green counters to wood laminate on floor and copper/brown counters. We painted and ordered a new gathering table and chairs. I feel like I have a whole new kitchen. Love it!
Good luck -

Can you post a pic? This one of the brands I'm considering. Of all the laminates, this is the one that looks more like real wood to me. What color do you have? I'm kind of liking the Butterscotch and Spice.

No- our cabinets are painted white with black handles, black granite-look countertops, and then the floor is the light "old" looking wood laminate. I love the contrast. I'll see if I can post a pic.

AAHH- sorry that was so huge- I edited it and it must not be working, even though my other one did!

We have the Mannington that looks like tile. I love it--it's easy to clean, it does not show dirt (not that my floor is ever dirty :rolleyes1 , and the dogs and cats haven't scratched it. And of course it looks nice.
