I currently have a blackberry tour and am available for an upgrade next month. I have been considering getting an iphone. What features do you love? What could you live without? For those of you that had a blackberry and switched what are your thoughts? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!! TIA :)

I've had 2 blackberry's before switching to the iPhone. I love it and I can't imagine having another type if phone! It's very easy to use and there are so many great apps out there! The one thing I dislike are the software updates and only bc they take a long time to do if you have a old laptop.

I have an iPhone. I went from an 'old school' phone to an iPhone & I found it pretty easy to learn. The only thing I don't like is that you can't remove the apps that come with the phone. I never use the stocks app or the weather app (prefer Weatherbug) but I can't take them off the phone.
The only other thing I would say is that I wish I had payed the extra $100 & got the 32G instead of the 16G. I'd like to put more music on my phone but I'm almost topped out.

Love my iPhone!

I just wishbi could sync tasks from Outlook to the iPhone.

I'm on my second Iphone...had a 3G and moved up to an Iphone 4 32GB a few months ago.

I LOVE my phone, it does so many things, I can't imagine how I lived without it before (I only had a small Samsung phone before)

There's over 300,000 apps available for all kinds of things, and many of them are free.

When it was time for me to get a new phone I didn't even think of getting an iphone. I thought it silly. Dh convinced me and now he says, "I couldn't pry it from her cold dead hands." I love it. It has a lot of fun apps but also a lot of productivity apps. This holiday season I was able to scan bar codes at the store and read the reviews of the item from amazon. It saved me money and gave me the instant information I needed. Did I say I love it.;)

iPhone is great IF you live an "AT&T-friendly" area. The phone itself is great, it syncs w/iTunes and stuff everything perfectly. I loved my old original iPhone and didn't see a need to upgrade to the 3g because my area didn't have AT&T 3g. Verizon however did have 3g. I ended up switching to Verizon and getting a Droid because I was so sick of having problems with getting a signal.

That's a good point. It really galls me to pay the same data fee when I live in an area that doesn't have 3G, and I can never use the phone to its full potential in an Edge network. If we don't get 3G here by the time my contract is up, I'm switching to Verizon and going with a Droid.

BUT, I absolutely love my iPhone other than that.

I really miss my Blackberry.

I love the apps for the Iphone (especially the Disney ones!) but hate the lack of service in SO many areas with AT&T and the touch screen typing.

I loved my iPhone...we got them in Aug. 2009 and we purchased the cheapest ones available at that time. (8gb?) We have relatively good AT&T service here in North Central WV.
My 15 month old iPhone "died" during my first solo Disney trip Nov. 13th, 2010. AT&T told us it wouldn't be able to be fixed...they sold us a "cheapy" phone and put my sim card into my husband's iPhone for me. I tried to update the software on the iPhone on Christmas Eve and it wiped out everything....contacts, music, ect.
I'm going to upgrade on 1/6/11 and am now looking at Droids, Samsungs and what not. As much as I love the iPhone...I don't trust it:sad2:

Thanks everyone for all of your responses. They were all really quite helpful. The touch screen typing is something that I'm not sure if I will like or not. As for people not liking the service they get with AT&T, I will most likely wait until Verizon gets the iPhone later this year before/if I get one.

I've heard "horror" stories from other people about having all of their information (contacts, music, etc) wiped from their phones. Is there a way to back everything up?

The rest of my family has Droids and really, really like them. That's another phone that I've been considering. Too many choices :)

Verizon and iPhone would be an awesome team if it happens! After seeing with my own eyes that Verizon is selling the iPad, I could actually believe it could be happening with iPhone too.

The touch screen typing on the iPhone is not bad at all, it was the first smart phone I ever had, so that's what I learned on.

I have a Droid and it is a very nice phone... DroidX actually. I am not actually comparing apples to apples a (droidx and first gen iphone are not really equals).

Droid wins at... camera, video camera, speed, signal (because of the network), and the fact it would be a lot simpler and cheaper to replace a battery.

iPhone wins at...media player, it is a lot easier to sync with iTunes, and accessories.

The Droid X is also a very large phone... that could be a downside.

I came from 2 BlackBerries, too, and thought I'd never get used to the touchscreen typing, either, but now I'm at least 50% faster on my iPhone than I ever was before. I first had a 32GB 3GS and then went to a 32GB iPhone 4 last summer, only because there was no 64GB version available (due to flash memory costs, apparently). I am crossing everything I own that that'll be available this summer!

As for what I love about it, I love that for a while, I had consolidated my mp3 player and phone into 1 device...unfortunately, I've since acquired so much more music and so many more videos that I ended up springing for a 64GB iPod Touch and that's what I use in the car and to connect to the TV to watch videos and movies. I use the iPhone when I'm working out and also as a point & shoot camera when I don't feel like bringing along my actual P&S or my DSLR. It's actually got a quite acceptable little camera packed into it, which has come in handy when I'm out walking around or at the parks, etc.

The variety of apps available speaks for itself. Some of my favorites are as follows:

Hipstamatic ("toy" camera app)
ProCamera (allows more control over exposure, focus, white balance, has a self-timer, etc.)
Osfoora (Twitter client)
Facebook
various Disney-related apps: WDW Maps, WDW Times (electronic version of the paper Times Guide available at the front of every park), eTicket, Disney World Hidden Mickeys, Wait Times, and WDW Dining
Games: reMovem, Toy Story Mania (SO similar to the ride & Wii game it's startling), Bejeweled 2, Stair Dismount , and Sol Free, a free solitaire game
Photography: Photoshop Mobile, PanoLab, Photobucket, Flickr, Camera+, Color Splash, Pro HDR, Tilt Shift Gen
Other: Southwest Airlines, Live Nation (for concerts), eSeats (for concerts & sports), iConcertCal (pulls artist info from your iTunes library to compile a list of upcoming concerts by your favorite artists in your local market (or any market you choose)--you can buy tickets to shows and get maps to venues from within the app itself, which is really handy), StubHub, Travelocity

And if you should get an iPhone and decide to jailbreak it, there's a whooooole other world of stuff you can do to it. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear that the touch screen typing isn't too bad, probably just something that would take some time for me to get used to :)

Droid X like I have is also completely touch screen keyboard, one of my friends has a Droid that has both touch screen and pull out keyboard.

Thanks for all the info!! I have heard from others that the iPhone's camera is pretty good :)

Yeah, the 3GS's was OK, but the iPhone 4's camera blows any other cell camera I've ever used out of the water (not that that's saying a ton, as most of them suck, but still.)

Here are a few shot with the iPhone 4; the last one was using Hipstamatic & is the survey marker in Epcot's parking lot.
