Tell me about your favourite drinks and special deals

Hi all,

I am due to sail on my first cruise in October. I have been reading lots of great thread and picking up some great info. But tell me about drink- specifically cocktails.

What are your favourite cocktails that I need to try. I've also read about special two for one on castaway. Are these at anytime. What are the deals on the ship.

not exactly what you are asking, but if it fits into your cruise/schedule, the tastings or mixology classes are a great deal - whatever the theme is, the price is like $15-%30 maybe, but there are lots of drinks and sometimes a bite to eat as well. also, the "anyone can cook" demos they do on some cruises usually include not only delicious tastes of whatever they are cooking, but for the adult version of the demo (usually an 18 and up class) there is usually a tasting/ small wine pour. and then, i believe both the dream and fantasy offer the "passport" deal in the skyline bar. if you get the passport and buy so many (regular priced) drinks, you get one free.

in any event, i'm the wino of the family.

Konk Koolers on CC, I don't remember when the went 2 for 1 but I was happy when they did, very tasty.

My favorites are a Crème Brulee Martini from the Meridian Lounge and Tropical Depressions for a poolside/beach drink.

2 for 1 is usually at the Conched Out bar on CC, at the end of the day. However we learned on the Dream last month that depends on the management on the particular ship. While we were there expecting it, another repeat guest came up asking about it. She seemed to push a little more to get info from the bartender and it came down to the bartender saying they weren't doing 2 for 1 because its up to management's discretion. So it seems like each ship makes its own rules, based on who is in charge at the time.

My favorite drink is the Typhoon Lagoon. Once the very first bartender put one in my hand, I never looked back!

On our Fantasy cruise we went for a mixology class, rum tasting class, and martini tasting class. They were all wonderful, you basically get 5 drinks for $15!! which is a bargain and the best deal going on the ship! and since my DW doesn't really drink much, I usually had 3 or 4 of her drinks as well (it was a really fun cruise!). However my go to drink up at Currents was the Captain's Mai Tai. Be SURE you get at least one large drink in the plastic (Hurricane style) glasses...keep the plastic glass, and then when you present the glass to a bartender you get a refill for the price of a regular drink! our glasses are in our kitchen cabinets waiting for our next cruise!

ha this made me laugh. I have seen quite a few threads with Konk Koolers, its on my list and i will keep an eye out for 2 for 1.

You didn't mention which ship or ports but if you're going to St Thomas and specifically Magen's Bay Beach, the bar there serves up a terrific Rum Punch! Teams up well with their NY style pepperoni pizza.
