My son will be 3 in July.

I'm tempted to take him on Goofy's Barnstormer in April. He tends to like rides and I "think" he will love something like this. I'm just afraid of being wrong and him then being afraid of going on anything after that.

I was thinking maybe I would try it 1st without him (and looking like a complete fool riding alone I'm sure ;), but would love to know how your little ones reacted the 1st time they rode.

Thanks so much!

My DS was 2 and a half and he LOVED it. I was surprised! They even gave him a ticket with a picture of GOOfy and the Barnstormer and it says First Rollercoaster ride. It is so cute, we put it in our scrapbook.

our DS4 was devastated when we tried to ride splash mt. and was only 39 inches. So we took him right over to Goofy's and he LOVED it. We rode it a few times and he could not get enough of it.

DD loved it her first time. We watched it go once and she was begging to ride it. It is still her favorite ride, next to RNR now.

My DS was 19 months and just made the height requirement. As soon as he saw it he tried to jump out of the stroller and run towards it. I put my arm around him on the ride and he shoved it away. He held on and had this very serious look the whole ride, when we got off he started pulling towards it and crying and on we went again. We rode it several times that trip and again when he was 22 months old. He loved it.

BTW, we take him on everything that he can go on, from the time he was a baby. He is pretty tall, so he can go on things long before he probably should. However, my kid LOVES rides and shows.....

DD really wanted to ride it when she was 2 1/2 (was the first ride she picked out ever at WDW) but she was too short. So, she was very excited to try it the next year.

So when she was 3, almost 4, she finally got to try it. She and I went on it together. She acted sort of funny afterwards (she was scared by it but did not want to tell us). BUT she kept talking about it and working up the courage to go on it again, this time with her dad. Now she tells everyone that it is her favorite ride.

I think the ride was a bit faster than I had anticipated, but it is also very short...so it is over before you know it. That works to your advantage if your child does end up being scared the first time.

DD loved it...she was 2 the first time she rode it. However, she is a daredevil. Word of warning, the ride is shockingly fast for a "little kid ride". I would suggest standing near the ride and watching it before letting your child ride.

It so depends on the kid, my dd is a daredevil and loved it when she did it at 2. My niece at 3 hated it and clung to my sister the whole ride, when it was over she didn't say anything so her mom asked her "are you alright?" she said in her litttle voice "I alright mumma but get me outta here!!!" and that has been it for Julianna and coasters ever since!

My DS is 6 so he feels like he is ready to ride all of the 'big boy' rides he was afraid of when he was 4. Barnstormer is on his list, as is Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain.

My DD is 4 and she wants to ride too. She has always been a bit more brave than her big brother.

DS was not quite 3, he loved it and wanted to go again and again. This was before the lowered the height, I am sure he would have loved it even more when he was younger, he has always loved thrill rides.

DS was almost 3. We ended up riding it 11 times that trip. He loved it. The first few times I put my arm behind him to help cushion the turns (ouch for me, but I wanted it to be comfortable for him). After we rode it about 6 times he know what to expect and when to brace. Last year I was curious how he would react....once again he LOVED it. Being a little older he seemed to appreciate it even more.

I asked him recently which ride he wanted to do first when we go see Mickey....his response was, "Goofy's Ride Mommy!!!"

My daughter was almost 3 as well. She liked it, but not as much as her brother. She wasn't really scared, but I don't think he enjoyed the jerkiness of it. She still wanted to ride it again though.

My kids loved it!

That said, I thought I was going to die! I don't know what it is about the rollercoaster...I can handle thunder mountain, space mountain, etc. Goofy's Barnstormer? Forget it. I now refer to it as the vomit comet.

Well the first time I took my son on it he was not yet 4 & he loved it. Actual conversation:

DH: How'd you like it?
DS: Dad, this coaster was too short. We need a longer coaster!
DH: We can do that!

Fortunately he was just over 40" tall, so we took him right over to BTMRR which he also loved & rode multiple times over the course of our trip. :)

So, it really depends on the kid in question. If he seems like a big brave daredevil kind of kid & wants to give the rollercoasters a go, I'd say go for it. Start w/ Barnstormer, it's short enough that even if s/he doesn't like it, it's over quick enough. :goodvibes

My DD was 2 1/2. It was her first roller-coaster and she loved it! I held on to her pretty tight, but she thought it was great!

I went on this with my DNephew (22 months) and he loved it. At first he had a scared look on his face so I started yelling "WEEEEEE" and he quickly changed to a smile. The ride is fast and as an adult you get a little shook up, but you have to remember that the ride is designed for little ones and the point of gravity is lower, thus little people don't get so trown around. I say take your tot on, the ride is only 39 seconds long! You could also go to YouTube and see video of the ride to get his reaction.

My DD was 2.5 when she rode it last year - she loved it - over and over and over....:rotfl:

Ds1 rode it last novemeber when he turned 3 and absolutely loved it, he went on it about 4 times in a row (MVMCP no queue) and would have stayed on there all night if we had let him. He is really hoping he is tall enough to ride splash mountain this yr, think i may have a daredevil on my hands!!

That was my son's response at 2 1/2 when he first rode it..He loved, loved it. The nice thing is that it isn't too long, so even if there a little shaken up, it's over pretty quick.. Both of my daughters started their roller coaster lives on Matterhorn (DL) at 3 yrs old but there brother was NOT going on that thing. Each kid is different. Barnstormer is a hit.

The barnstormer is my 3 and 6 yr. old boys favorite ride!(and they've ridden quite a few) My oldest was 3 the first time we went and had no hesitation at all(he's quite the daredevil). My youngest was 2 the first time he rode. He generally tends to be more hesitant and cautious(ex. he will not go near any non human characters) but he wanted to ride it because big brother liked it. I sat with him and kept the mood excited and happy and he loved it. He squealed with delight and threw his little hands up in the air.(with me holding on to him tightly!) I say just give it a shot and see what happens. On a side note, that same character wary child's 2nd favorite ride is Haunted Mansion!:confused3
