Tell me about you recent pixie dust upgrade!

I have spent the past few days going over all the pixie dust that has been sprinkled over feller dissers when the arrive at WDW and are upgraded at their resort. I thought it would be nice to start a thread with recent upgrades as many of the ones I read went back to 2008. This way we can see how much pixie dust has been sprinkled recently. Our trip is May 1st and I would love some pixie dust . We will be staying at WL so any specific news about there would be great. So tell us about your pixie dust upgrade!

I have never stayed at WL so no stories there but I got an upgrade from a Standard View room to a Savannah View at AKL last month! It was an awesome surprise!! An upgrade to CL at WL would be pretty great!! Good luck!

Honestly just because you read about others getting upgades at the Wilderness Lodge doesn't mean it happens there all the time or at any of the other WDW Resorts. Don't forget you are only reading when it happens to members of Disboards that happen to stay there, however think of all the other guests they get who stay there, are not members on here and never got an upgrade. So the reality is upgrades don't happen that often as you might think and my best advice is that if you want a specifc room view or category, make a reservation for it and you can get exactly what you want.

Oh I'm not expecting one by any means.... I just wanted to hear what people have received. I've actually been sprinkled with pixie dust every year since 2004 at the WL. It's our favorite hotel!

On my trip last year, we got bumped up to business class on the flight down and got upgraded to courtyard view once we checked into the WL! We had booked standard view, but the CM was kind enough to upgrade us since he did not want us to wait for our room. It was a great way to start our vacation!

I've been upgraded twice at WL, first time from standard view to courtyard view of WLV pool, second time from woods view to main courtyard view I have no idea who upgraded me, if it was done before or by CM.

Generally i book a view I will enjoy, and if I get a magical upgrade,
After being at WL once before, we decided we'd like the Woods view, so booked that.
Next stay at BC we booked Garden View. I didn't want standard looking at parking lot or roofs! But water view was too pricy.

My dream is to get upgraded to CL

Are you talking about free upgrades? We booked a standard view at AKL but would love a comp upgrade to Savannah....does it happen? I just coudn't justify paying the extra $$ when we aren't in the rom all that much but it would be nice to be able to wake up and see the animals outside our window!

yes some are free..if you ask if they have any upgrades they might say yes but for a fee. book what you want and if you get upgraded, its a nice surprise but don't expected it. the pool view at akl isn't much more money than the standard but a much better view than the parking lot. maybe book that one instead?

I think if there are openings for Savanna views at AKL when you check in you will be upgraded. Seems to me that they prefer putting guests in the savanna accomdations vs. a parking lot. I did get a free savanna upgrade in 12/07. Not sure how busy your vacation time will be though.

No pixie dust for me on my solo trip to WL this Feb. I booked a courtyard view and requested inner courtyard. Got my request granted so that was good enough for me

You know how disney sends out the confirmation email to your account after book at trip or when you make a change? Something interesting happened last year. Disney sent an updated confirmation email to my account but I didn't read it before I checked in to the resort. HAD I read it I would have noticed I had been upgraded to a suite and club level as it shows in the description. So I KNOW if my case the upgrade was determiend before I stepped foot into the YC. Glad I didn't read it! Surprise was better...

HAD I read it I would have noticed I had been upgraded to a suite and club level as it shows in the description. So I KNOW if my case the upgrade was determiend before I stepped foot into the YC. Glad I didn't read it! Surprise was better...

My last two times at WL I was upgraded to CY View from Standard and Woods view respectively. I logged into the disney site and looked at my reservation a few days before and noticed it had been change. This last time I got a bear face room which was excellent!!!

In Sept. (2010) we were upgraded from CY view to CL!!! We had stayed at WL once before and had booked and got a CL room. I booked that again for the trip to celebrate my "big birthday ending in a zero"; DBF also had turned same age a few months before, so it was really to celebrate both. Our CL room was woods view (at first I was a little disappointed that we lost CY view but not enough to really be disappointed) and I discovered I like that view, so if we go again, I would just book Woods View and be perfectly satisified with it. The upgrade was a surprise - when we checked in the CM took a minute looking at the reservation and I was afraid there was a problem - then she said something like "I have to get your key from the concierge" and I realized what was happening! It was magical. DBF's favorite part was that he discovered the "Uncrustables" pb&J sandwiches (like a 5 year old) in the lounge. I loved having breakfast up there and looking out the window over the lake. (But I don't think I would pay for CL - the rooms were basically the same.)

That's exactly what happened to us before our stay at the Polynesian in December 2007. We had reserved their Garden View - Club Level Room and a few days before we arrived Disney Destinations sent us a new confirmation which said we are now reserved in a Lagoon View - Club Level Room. To make sure it wasn't a mistake when I looked up our reservation on the WDW website it was updated with our new room information. Anyway when we arrived at the Polynesian we never said anything about the upgade and then the Cast Member looked in the computer and said congratulations, you have been upgraded to the Lagoon View.
