Is it nice? Is it close to everything? How close is it to the monorail? How do the busses work? Can you walk to any of the parks from there?

It is my favorite resort. Just gorgeous! Love the feeling I get when I walk into the lobby. You can take a ferry to the MK and all other parks you will take the buses. There is also a ferry to Wilderness Campground incase you want to visit or see the Hoop de Doo Review. Fun show! The pool is great and I love the slide. Can't wait to stay in May of 2005 at the villas. We are DVC members.

It looks really nice and it seems resanable priced for a deluxe resort. i also was thinking of AK but it just seems so far away from everything.

When my DH first wanted to stay at the WL for our Thanksgiving trip I wasn't too thrilled. I wanted the GF. The difference in price is a little more than $100 a night (for the GF). I thought the WL would be "too western, country, campy, masculine" for me. I researched, looked at photos, read reviews, watched my Great Hotels episode about 100 times. I booked a woods view for five nights ( all the grandparents came along, so that was 3 rooms). I made PS's for Whispering Canyon (breakfast and dinner) , for Artist Point for the adults and the Cub's Den for my son (age 6).
Okay....
When we drove up to the lodge, all of my fears and apprehension went right out the window. WOW! Pictures and video do not do this place justice. It was so beautiful! We walked into the lobby and it was all decorated for Christmas, with a huge tree and music. Our room was nice and overlooked the otter pond. We were only on the second floor and could still see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom every night! The lodge is very compact and even though our rooms were all spread out, it just took a minute or two to get from one room to another.

The boat to the Mk was nice, relaxing and quick enough. We also took the boat to the Contemporary for Thanksgiving dinner at Chef Mickey's. We did take a bus to the AK and it was quick (we only stopped at the GF). We drove to Ecpot and MGM.

Whispering Canyon was wonderful! So was Artist Point! Our son loved the Cub's Den so much that he wanted to stay longer. Roaring Forks was great for a quick breakfast or snack-they also have lunch and dinner items.

My son really loved the pool. We all had a great time. WL is probably my favorite resort overall....and I thought I would hate it!

We also stayed at AKL-it's wonderful as well! I give the edge to WL because of the extra activities like boating and the bikes-those surrey bikes were nice on a day we had that was WAY too cold to swim!

I think that WL is where we will stay. I am thinking of either the gold or the platnium plan.....

If you can swing it, I would least go with a woods view (request the north wing). We had a standard room at the BC and the view was so bad that we kept the drapes closed . I vowed never to book a standard view again. At the values and mods it does not matter, since there are no balconies. I'm sure you will love the lodge. Do you have kids?

when we go my kids will be 6 and 9. My girl will be 6 and my boy will be 9 and we are having his b-day there. He will turn 10 there.

You will love WL! Don't even hesitate. The water slide is pretty good. I know the slides at other resorts are better, but it seems to do just fine for my kids. Believe me, what WL doesn't have in the slide, the lobby alone makes up for. Plus, it's very convenient to the parks and other resorts. I've always wanted to do the Platinum Plan. We've done the Gold and absolutely loved it. We felt so pampered (lots of food though). Have a wonderful time. You won't be sorry.

Tell me how did you like the gold plan? How was everything? What type of recreaction was included? Did you have time for recreation? Would you think the Platnuim plam would be worth it?

You cannot walk to any park from WL. But the only hotel that is walking distance to a park is the Contemporary to Magic Kingdom. But you will not be disappointed in the WL--I would recommend it to anyone, especially with kids.

The Gold Plan was great. You get 3 meals a day at all of the great restaurants, and it's still A LOT of food (with Platinum you get 3 meals PLUS snacks. You get tickets to Cirque and reserved areas for parade viewings and fireworks (you would get a fireworks cruise with Platinum). You get unlimited use of the childcare centers (in-room sitting is also included in Platinum). Recreation includes all of the boat rentals, miniature golf, bikes, hay rides, parasailing, and golf. We mostly used the boat rentals and mini golf. If you wanna go first class, this is the way. If you make the most of it, you will definitely get your money's worth and feel very pampered. If you can afford it, I would do it. It was the best trip ever! Now I just gotta do Platinum sometime.

Great piccies Ronald!!!! You got out just in time before Charley!!! Glad you had a good time!!! We were there 3 wks before you!! Miss it already!! :sad1:

Love the pics, Ronald. Got me so excited for our upcoming trip in just 3 weeks!!!! YEAHHHH!!!

You might come out better without the package. I don't think you save $$$ with it. I would hate to pay for things that you might not use or feel that you have to eat a meal becasue you paid for it ahead of time. We can only eat one sit down meal per day. One time we did two-breakfast and dinner with a light snack around 2pm-and it was way too much.
