Tell me about Williamsburg VA

Now to be fair, yes it is somewhat dead, BUT, they are in a HUGE renovation/revitalization stage and the grand re opening of the new pottery will be in April of next year. The pottery is still open.
Williamsburg as well as other tourist places have taken a hit especially in winter time, I don't want other posters to read and think of planning a trip next year and not go to the pottery.

I have to respectfully disagree. Unless it's undergone a huge change (last time I went was last winter, so it is possible that a huge change could have occurred), I wouldn't feel comfortable suggesting visiting there on vacation. It used to be wall to wall people in there years ago. When I went, I think my mother and I were the only people in the entire place other than employees, and they were scarce too. You may love it, and that's fine. If we all loved the same things, life would be boring. But, in the state that I remember it, it's not for me.

The OP still hasn't told us what time of year he/she is considering going. People are giving BG/WC advice, but that's a moot point if they're going to be coming in January. Back to what I expressed the last time I posted, OP we need to know what time of year you're coming to give you good suggestions.

No I don't love it. I work in Williamsburg I don't go there to shop. The OP has stated that they will go in Spring: April, May or June.

And once again, I don't disagree that it is somewhat dead right now, but you have to take account a few things: Williamsburg as a tourist area has slowed down in winter in the past couple of years, as a matter of fact even in the season the numbers have been lower, but that is due to economy, etc.

Second: they are essentially revamping it to make it look more up to date: the buildngs that were in the front facing Route 60 are now demolished and the new store fronts are being built.

The grand re opening is April 5th ,so it could be in time of her going.

OP here. Yes in my original post I said we would be going in the spring, April, May or June. My Dh has to put in for his holiday time soon that is why I wanted advice on when to go. We definatly want to hit Water Country so after reading these responses I'm leaning towards the first week of June. we all really enjoy amusement parks, water parks and history so that was my reason for choosing Williamsburg for our next vacation. We are Canadian and drove to Disney last spring and spent a few days in Savannah and loved it there, we enjoyed Fort Pulaski (a cival war fort) as much as our Disney days and it only cost $10 for our entire family to get in for the day. We enjoyed the drive and wished we had time to see more along the way. So I'm very excited about Williamsburg, I think the whole family will love it. Can anyone recommend a site to rent a time-share? Thanks!
