Tell me about Wilderness Lodge..

Looks like we will be there at the same time. I'll be on the look-out for you in the lobby, ;)

DizneyNutz - Your pictures are fabulous and they make me VERY anxious to get to the Lodge!!

Looks like we will all be there at the same time!!!:thumbsup2 I will be the nut walking around with my new Rebel xti taking photos of EVERYTHING! Here's wishing you all the very best stay!:thumbsup2

I have to throw in a vote for the WL. We've been there twice in the past couple of years and we just fell in love with it. There isn't anything bad I could say about it, not even the transportation. I didn't have a problem with most of our bus trips and we only used our rental car once during a 7-day stay. I think your dad would really love this resort.

Great pictures, too, by the way! I will take any opportunity to look at Lodge pictures. LOVE IT!

Blonde hair, probably sweat pants and a sweat shirt, one cup of coffee and a magazine, by all means say Hi. Warning though, I'm a morning person, so I am actually bright and cheery at 5 a.m., if this might annoy you (as it does my travel friend) approach with caution.:lmao:

We are so excited largely because we've never stayed at WL before and both my friend and I live in beach towns, so this theming is completely different from our everyday life.

I'm also in the minority but, while the WL is a very pretty resort, I don't think we'll stay there again.

We didn't use the buses but did take the boat to the MK several times. It was a very long ride and coming back after Wishes, it took over an hour to get back to the resort what with waiting in line for the boat.

I also had an issue with Roaring Forks. We like to use the resort counter service for breakfast and sometimes for a quick lunch or dinner. The choices were very limited and never varied from day to day. The seating area was extremely small, as well.

It was beautiful and the service was excellent at the WL. However, I think we're going to stick with the Dolphin and the Epcot area. It just suits our purposes better.

Here's to a beautiful weather and a great trip for all of us! :pixiedust
Although I consider myself a morning person, I'm hoping that I won't be in the lobby of the Lodge at 5am. After all, it's vacation and I may get to sleep in until 6 or so. LOL! I can just see myself walking up to a guest and saying, "Good Morning, Chickenskin!" Especially if it isn't you :rotfl2:

Smile - sorry to derail your thread!

Which room should I request if I want a view of MK (for fireworks)?

We love the Wilderness Lodge! We had great timing with the bus system and enjoyed the boat ride. We didn't have a car. We thought roaring forks was very good, but we live on fast food and like muffins and such for breakfast. My mom enjoyed the lobby and walking in the morning. We watched wishes, and the Electrical Water Pageant, with our hot chocolate, from the beach at night. We liked that the resort was compact, everyone was very friendly. I can't wait to see it decorated for Christmas!

The Wilderness Lodge is like no other property. I felt like I came home. I loved taking the boat to MK I loved the background music, I loved the sound of the crickets, I loved sitting in the lobby with my book and just watch people, I loved sitting by the fireplace on the 4th (?) floor. I loved standing on top of the verandah and watch the people come and go. I loved the mercantile. I loved rubbing Humphry's nose.....I loved it all!

This would work for either standard or woods view room.

I would request high floor, MK side, overlooking the otter pond!!

This doesn't guarantee you will have a good view of the fireworks, but you'll have a better than average chance with these requests.

Oh c'mon, that would be hysterical watching someone walking around the lobby asking every guest with blond hair "excuse me, but are you chickenskin?" :lmao:

I'm an early riser and like to pop on the room coffee then head our to the Roaring Fork for my first cup while wife sleeps alittle longer, not a real early morning person. I fill my refillable mug and newspaper and wander around watching the resort wake up. Yes, you can sit in the lobby, very quiet and comfortable. Cleaning people are out and about, I check out the opening and cleaning of the pool, wander down to the beach and watch theCM sand pro the beach and just enjoy the coolness of the Florida air. By the time I had my little tour and my first cup is done, I head back, wife is up and ready and the room coffee is perked for my second cup and off to breakfast we go. Absolutely doable and fun, morning is the best time in Disney, early morn that is.

Or...you can do like we did two years ago...our 14 month old decided to wake up at 2am and refuse to go back to sleep...and make lots of noise. :headache:

I ended up throwing his little tush in the stroller around 3am after my wife had no success getting him back to sleep and started "touring" all of WLV and WL.:scared:

While it was a pain...it was very cool to see the staff getting things ready for the next day. There were still a lot of people around buffing floors and sprucing things up...plus, when I was walking around outside I saw deer, a racoon and an armadillo!

I have stayed at the GF in Concierge Lounge for 7 yearsstraight znd it was great After those 7 years we decided to try the club level at the WL. For 3 years already there has been impeccable service and accomodations. The transportation to and from Downtown Disney and Magic Kingdom is slow but otherwise its agreat hotel. We would not suggest staying in a room other than the club level because we tried it once and the servce was slow and not up to our expectations so we complained and they gaveus a free upgrade to club level.
