We are considering switching our Boardwalk reservation to Wilderness Lodge. The Boardwalk pool is going to be in rehad while we are there in September. I was going to switch to the Beach Club but since they will probably allow Boardwalk to use Beach Club pool during that time, I would think it would be even more crowded. I have only been to the Wilderness Lodge 1 time and it was to dine. I loved the lobby but I am worried about it seeming to dark. Tell me some of the things you love about WLV!!! Thanks for any input you might can give us. What about room locations and views to ask for?

:wave2:

We haven't been to WLV either, but have you considered SSR? Their quiet pool is beautiful and the view of DTD is gorgeous! You can sit in the pool and watch all the lights at DTD or the fireworks at midnight! We did not hear the fireworks at all on the nights we weren't watching them! SSR is our home, and we loved it! We just like to try other resorts, so we will probably do that for awhile, but we will always go back to SSR!

We loved the Villas at WL. We bought at DVC after staying there (as a hotel room). The rooms are not dark - the lobby is - and the theming (green and wood) is superb. Two pools - a quiet pool by the villas and the main WL pool.

Can't help much with views - sorry.

I love it!!!!

beautiful resort.

ask for a room on the lake side near the elevators.

most of the rooms are woods view.

be sure one night to go to the beach and see EWP.

take the tour (kinda of boring - but very helpful to first timers)

be a flag family!!!!

I love the gift/general store. Lots to look at!!! sit in the hotel lobby and people watch. It use to be fun in both lobbies -but most DVC VWL are no longer over whelmed by the beauty.

so go sit the hotel's lobby and watch people enter.

the storytelling is okay.

love the snack bar!!!

The views are primarily of the woods. VWL is the red roofed building, and WL is the green roof.

Some people like the quiet pool view. It has a glimpse of Bay Lake and is close to the elevators.

Other than that, I'd go for your more important requests like smoking/non-smoking, HA/non-HA, etc.

You want testimonials about WL? Here you go! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=658804

Enjoy your trip! WL is a beautiful resort. Frankly, if you find the lobby to be dark, you might find the rest of the resort to be dark as well. The theming is carried throughout. But regardless, I think you will find the villas to be a very cozy and quiet retreat after a hectic day in the parks. :)

Thanks for all of your helpful post. We are changing our ressie in the am to Wilderness Lodge Villa's for 3 of our nights. I thought I remembered seeing somewhere a post about how where the 1 and 2 bedrooms are located at and what floors. Does anyone have that link?

Thanks again!! :wave2:

I do think it's a little dark, but that's one thing I like about it. It matches the wilderness theme.
I think it may look a bit silly to have the villas decorated in pastels... :p

PS- Don't forgrt to pull up a rocking chair in the VWL atrium, and peacefully listen to the music...

You're very welcome! :)

When I found that photo, I knew I needed to save it since there are so many questions about views, distance to WL, distance to main pool, distance to boat dock. That picture helps put it in perpective...VWL is really so small that even the furthest rooms aren't all that far from everything. :)

VWL is great! It's perfect to go back and forth quickly to the Magic Kingdom. While you're there, you might want to do the kids crafts in the afternoon at the cub's den, or visit FW petting zoo. WC is a great, fun place to eat (ask for M.T. Wallet)
Have a great time!

You will love the WL. It is such a relaxing resort. We stayed at SSR last time and were wishing we were back at WL.

If you don't mind arriving at the parks late, take the boat from VWL to Fort Wildnerness for the buffet breakfast - no charcters, but a delicious buffet for a reasonable price!

We love the quiet at VWL. That may not be everyone's cup of tea, but we love it. Wish it was our "home". Maybe one day it will be - looking to do an add-on there in the near future.
