This is our first ever Disney Cruise and we are most excited about Castaway Cay, but I am getting nervous about the Virtual Queue system.
We are sailing on the Magic on March 5th.
Is it first come first serve to join the queue after booked excursions or is everone pre-assigned times? Is it fast fingers get better times like RoTR?
Also if the stars align and the ship is clear to go ashore at 8:30, what is the last times people have gotten off the ship.

Yes, the queue is first come, first served. However, since the ships aren't very full, the queue goes pretty quickly. If you're sailing concierge of if you have an excursion, then you can skip the queue. Otherwise, get your finger ready!

But really, the queue will probably empty within 30 minutes and you probably won't have much trouble getting a good spot in line if it's that important to you.

You don't need to stress about the virtual queue. We joined around 9 and our group was called 15 or 20 minutes later. (There were 30 groups ahead of us when we joined.) On our second CC day, we joined at 10 and we could leave immediately. We heard there were just over 1000 on our cruise and there were still beachfront chairs available when we left the ship after 10.

You aren't pre-assigned times: it is done like ROTR where at a certain time, you can click a link in the app and get your virtual queue position. But much less stressful because it goes so quick.

right now with the capacity, it's not an issue and in fact nobody even checked our phones when we went down. When we were ready to head down off the ship after breakfast I went to the app and the time they gave us was too soon ( we were still packing things up) so its not like you have to wait an hour or so to get off. it goes so fast. We got our time at the moment we want to get of.
Believe me this is NOT the thing to stress about on your trip.

I put us in the queue at 7:34. We were 62 and literally off the boat at 8:40 (because we had a bio break on the way).

Our sailing on the Dream February 14 had 1700 guests. We joined the que soon after 7:30 and could have gotten off the ship right away if we had been down on deck 1. We took the aft elevator from our cabin on deck 10 and it did not stop to pick up anyone else and there was no one ahead of us to get off the ship.
