We will be spending some time at Vero Beach next month. What do we need to know? What was your favorite thing to do there?
Thanks!

An entire thread with tons of information already exists. You may want to check that out.

For starters, my family really likes Vero Beach. Right off the bat I will say that you can find MUCH better beaches in Florida. It is not a miles long, half mile wide white sand beach. It is a beach, with sand. We have, however, swam many, many times and had much fun there. Swimming, wading, body surfing, jet-skied. Nice waves, warm water.
The resort is quite nice, I would say laid back. Very nice swimming pool with large slide. Good kiddy swim/play area. I would say the resort is relaxing, on the quiet side. NOT silent, but not spring breaky.
Not many ocean view rooms.
I guess it is hard to describe these things to others, since I am sure our tastes differ.
Our family definitely likes VBR. We often split our vacations between VBR and a WDW resort. Inevitably we end up saying we wish we had spent more time at Vero and less at WDW. And we like WDW very much.
I guess give it a try for yourself and see what you think.

We really enjoyed it last September. Like a pp said, don't expect an ocean view, but the grounds are very nice. We had a huge balcony that, while it overlooked the parking lot, was well-enough landscaped that it was very pleasant to sit out and enjoy the evenings.

Expect to do some walking. The beach access in on the right side of the inn (if you are facing the ocean) so if you are in building 12 you will have a quite a little walk to the beach. It is a pleasant walk.

Resort was clean and my kids loved the pool area and the activities. We played Bingo and trivia and pool games multiple times. Mini-golf was fun, too. They have an Unbirthday Party for kids that is complimentary and really fun for kids.

One of our favorite things was the bike riding. You can rent a bike or bring your own and ride the Jungle Trail along the Indian River. Perfect in the morning.
