We are considering taking or next trip during this time this year and wanted to learn more about what all goes on and if its worth it, to deal with the crowd that I am sure it brings.

It's a lot of fun :)

My group and I went back to the hotels around 5 to get ready and put on our costumes. The party starts around 7 (We were at the party on Oct. 10). DCA is decorated with some nice eerie lights and a few cobwebs here and there, as well as some candy corn around. It is, of course, not as decorated as how it is now in the Halloween season.

There's lots to do; there's a few places for like dancing where they play upbeat and Halloween music and there's a few places to go trick-or-treating. They even have healthy options like fruit leather and trail mix available at these stops.

Oh, and the rides are open too, and when we went the lines were actually shorter than we expected (except for Toy Story Mania, since it's only a few months old and still new)

If you plan to go, I definitely recommend dressing up too. I remember people saying a few years back people were saying they felt silly dressing up, but when we went you would have stuck out if you didn't!

Hope this helps! :wizard:

I love going to DCA's tirck-or-treat parties. And you will leave with more candy than you can imagine. The healty snacks that were offered when I went this past Oct. were apples and carrots.
Even though the park seems packed, only so many tix are sold and everyone is off doing different things like playing games, going on rides, dancing w/ characters, standing in lines for candy, or standing in line to take pics w/ characters so the crowds aren't bad at all, depending on what you're doing.

We went on the 10th as well. Lots of decorations, tons of candy and an abundance of activities for everyone.

However, I would gladly bypass all the candy (which you can just get at home anyway) and pay the price of tickets just for the atmosphere and little to no lines at all. Literally almost everything we went on was walk-on.

The candy was just a "bonus". ;)

We wore our costumes into the park, but it wasnt long before we ran back to the room to change into something more comfortable.

The PPs were right, it was really fun. This past year was the first year we went and we had a blast. We are doing it next year for sure.

October is a busy busy month at DLR, so the crowds are kind of large.

We went Oct 30th, and oh gosh the crowds were elbow to elbow. The candy stations ran out FAST, and there were few walk on rides it was sold out so it was very busy. It is very cute just very crowded when we went but it was the night before Halloween.

when in October would be the best time to go for this?? Do they hold the parties just over the weekend in October for it?

One question to add.... Is there rare characters out & are they dressed up too?

Is the Trick or Treat thing separate from your usual day at the park? If so how much is it?

The only characters we saw out to meet outside of the photo stations were Cruella DeVil and the Queen of Hearts. They were taking photos and signing autographs.

We also saw Donald (in the Candy Corn Acres farmer clothes), Clarabelle Cow (standard gear), Flik and Atta dancing at the stations in Candy Corn Acres and the Hollywood Backlot.

The only characters in Halloween clothes that we saw were Mickey and Minnie at their photo stop. Mickey was wearing a different Halloween costume than in the park throughout the day. We didn't see Minnie in Halloween costume, so I can't tell for her.

Separate, you need an extra ticket. If I remember correctly the online sales price was $ 29, $ 37 with you bought on the day. Halloween tickets were $ 37 in general. AP rate was $ 25, but also no discount for Halloween.

Not sure about rare characters, but there are a lot of characters out and about. Most if not all were dressed differently than their norm.

Yes, it's seperate. It's usually after DCA closes for the day. When we went in Oct 2007, the adavanced purchased price was $25, i think. I think prices were higher last year than the year we went though.

We went on Halloween night this year, and it was crowded but not unbearable in any way. We did not ride a single ride (since we were there for 3 days we decided to focus on the special events of the evening instead). We hit every trick or treat spot, including all 3 treat trails and they were no where near running out of candy, even late at night. We also did 3 character greeting spots: Playhouse Disney for Handy Manny, June & Annie (from Little Einsteins), Golden Dreams Theater for Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella (Wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters from Cinderella) and the Ampitheater for Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween costumes. We waited in line for M&M for well over an hour, and I am not sure I would do that again. We also met the Queen of Hearts, Bowler Hat Guy (Meet the Robinsons) and Cruella DeVille while waiting in line for the mice.

We got there right at opening and the 3 character greetings (we skipped a fourth one that was just over the bridge by Ariel's Grotto that was princesses) plus trick or treating and the character calvalcade mini parade took us from 7:30 until 11:00. We could have stayed 30 minutes longer and ridden a ride or hit some of the treat spots again, but we already had way too much candy and we were tired.

Probably the best parts for us were meeting the Cinderella characters--they were wonderful and perfectly in character, and the mini parade. They did a parade stop right by us and my DS and I got to go out and dance with some of the characters. We finally met Daisy Duck this way and we had a great time!

I think that the party is well worth the money and we will return next year, but we will visit the dance parties instead of hitting every single candy spot. After a week or two of picking at it, I ended up taking the rest of the candy to my office and it filled a huge punch bowl! I liked getting the apple slices and we ate many of them over the rest of our weekend at DL, but we ended up throwing a bunch away too, so it was pretty wasteful in the end.

We went in 2007 and had a blast. We were going to go again in 2008, but couldn't make for health reasons.

We went the first weekend they had it, the end of September. It was not crowded at all. The lines for candy/ rides/ characters were all very very short. It's so much fun. My only regret is I didn't dress in costume. My son had SO MUCH FUN! It was probably the best experience I've had at DL or DW.

I was one of the party with TheAXIOM and I had soo much fun. There was great Halloween music playing all around with many places to dance (including with characters!) I heard that if you danced with characters you get candy there too :) Almost all of the rides were open and we had lots of people in costume (which really added to the atmosphere). I also really enjoyed the CMs dressed like sweets ! It was really cute ;)

We went for the first time in 2008 and had a blast! We didn't even have a kid with us! We rode lots of rides, saw lots of Characters, got a ridiculous amount of candy, 12lbs I believe (we ate a little, then gave a ton of it to the neighbor kids and DH's work :rotfl: ) and just had a great time!

I will be honest my main reason for going is I wanted to get dressed up and go to the parks. I love costumes and when I was a kid they didn't have princess dresses for you to wear at the parks, so I got to go and be a huge kid again!

If I can I would love to go again this year!

My concern about all three of us dressing up, is with flying we might have to take an extra suitcase just for costumes. Hmm... Maybe I can find a local place by DL that sells costumes
