Tell me about the train please--dinosaurs? Grand Canyon?

The train is usually a must do for us. DS5 and DS6 just love it! The Dinosaurs are their favorite part. Plus it's nice to sit and relax for a grand circle tour :goodvibes

this time we did it first thing upon entering DLP. We all loved it! Great introduction to the park.

We went to DLR 2 months ago. DS4 has mentioned the dinosaurs he saw on the train almost every day. The train is so peaceful.

One of the coolest rides we took was when we got to ride on the Lillybelle car for our kiddo's birthday. It was great and we got souvenir tickets!

Unfortunately the Lillybelle is no longer in public service per a recent reliable report, but you can ask at the Main Street station for a "tender ride". It is,only available if the engineer allows and only on the engines with a detached tender (the Ward Kimball has an attached tender, so no tender seat). It accommodates two and must be for a Grand Circle Tour. We've done this twice and it is an amazing experience, especially for budding engineers and older train enthusiasts. You may have to wait for a few trains to go by, but it's well worth the wait. There is nothing like seeing the engineer and fireman operate the train just 3 feet from you. The will engage in train conversation as you will tolerate...

Thank you so much everyone! I'm really looking forward to taking the kids on this, they're going to love it!

Just a quick reminder.... if you're riding solely because you want to see the dinos and grand canyon part of the tour, to wait for a train that has the seats facing the outside of the cars. Some trains have benches which sit forward-facing the train engine...but it's the ones with the side-facing benches you want for this. :)

For sure! That's the only way I'll ride the train :thumbsup2

Thanks MuggleMama! So does that mean wait for the train or train car with side seating?

The whole train faces the side, not just one car. Definitely ride that one so you have the best view. :)

And yes, you can see the train from Splash, we always look to see if one is passing by and we wave. :) We rarely get to see one but we still look.
