Tell me about the Tower of Terror harnesses

Now are the belts for each person or is it one large belt for the row?

My DH seems to think it was a lap bar that trip and that he held his arm across our DD.

From what I see in ride photos, it's just a lapbar... Do you even feel safe in that? I. :]

They say statisically only about 1 in 2,300 slip out so your odd are pretty good.

Just try it once, now that you know that you will exit the ride alive and in one piece. If you find it too scary then you don't have to ride it again but you still get to say that you did TOT. The entire ride is amazing; I hope that you're able to conquer your fear enough to give it a chance.

I am a certified wimp. I do not like Everest nor do I like the Aerosmith coaster....however I LOVE TOT!!!

I can handle a drop so much better than those twists and turns on coasters.

OP: The belt seems to be perfectly sufficient.

It's a lap seat belt for each person. I am a big ol' ride chicken, and rode TOT last week for the first and last time. I am just too much of a scardy cat.

I felt perfectly restrained in my seat, but those drops were just too much for me -- the sensation of the seat falling out from under me -- .
Somebody earlier said something about handles to hang on to but I swear, I was on the front row and saw nary a handle. I had my arm wrapped around the back of my own seat, hanging on for dear life!!

The kids enjoyed it, though!! My nephew saw his backpack floating up and kicked it back down with his foot.

What I don't see mentioned much is the attention to detail in the lobby, the library and the preshow video.

They guy playing Rod Serling is spot on, and the video plays just like an episode of The Twighlight Zone.

LOL...that's because it is Rod Serling, lipped by a voice impersonator!

The seatbelt lets you have more air time! it'll keep you strapped in, no worries, but it allows abit more of a butt floating off the seat feeling, which is part of the thrill!

The original opened in 1994 (15 years ago). The CA version has been open 5 years, the Tokyo version for 3 years, and the Paris version for 1 year.

Each 'car' holds 21 people. These people are dropped several times per experience and this repeats dozens of times every single day.

It took 5 years to design the ride.

There have been no incidents (due to design of the ride) in the equivalent of 24 years of service for the ride.

One would think if there was something inherently wrong with the ride that can only be fixed by having 'shoulder harnesses' that something would have happened by now

Agreed (except for the part about 'playing' Serling of course) but you can also walk through the lobby and library, watch the preshow video, then exit through the "chicken chute" (a regular elevator that will take you down to the exit). I've done it several times.

Ditto that you have to at least go through and leave via chicken exit. The inside is amazing and the video is fun!

Last year we rode ToT after we watched Fantasmic so it was probably like 10 at night Im assuming. When we put the seatbelts on the CM stood in the doorway and said "pull on the yellow strap to make sure your seatbelt is tight" ya know the routine stuff. But then he said, "If not then thats what the cage is for" and he pointed up. That was the coolest thing. BTW the ride is killer at night. If you have never ridden at night you should.

Not necessarily for guests with a disability.

That seat was generally occupied on every elevator.

It just couldn't have a restraint bar due to its unique location in the elevator.

That seat is still the only one in the elevator that does not have "solid wall"
directly in front of you to grab onto.
