Tell me about the sheets at OKW...

Does anyone know if the sheets at OKW are 100% cotton or a blend? I find that it really makes a difference in my comfort level. If necessary I'll bring my own but I'd rather not.

I'm also very 'fussy' about my sheets and (although I didn't check), I'd say the ones we had in OKW last October were 100% cotton.

Also, keep in mind that Disney (not just DVC) uses flat sheets for both the mattress & the top sheet. I much prefer a fitted sheet on the mattress - just one of my pet peeves :). You might call Member Services & ask about the sheets.

DVC resorts use normal, hotel-type flat sheets. The elastic in fitted sheets would not stand up to the high-temperature commercial laundering of hotel sheets.

I've never checked whether the sheets are 100% cotton or a cotton/poly blend. (I've always assumed cotton/poly blend, but I really don't know.) In either case, they're not like the high-thread-count, 100% cotton luxury sheets we have at home.

But I have no complaints about the sheets we've had at OKW and BWV.

I really hate the flat sheet folded as a fitted sheet concept, even though everyone does it - I always end up on a bare mattress.

So, to make sure you're not concerned about the sheets, why not buy a king sized fitted sheet (for the 1/2 bedroom units) to use only at DVC? I went to a local department store during their white sale, and got a VERY nice fitted sheet, king sized, in a bold color for less than $10! I always make sure we bring it with us, and put it on the bed first thing.

I chose a bright bold color so that housekeeping wouldn't get it confused with their sheets, and to remind me to take it off the bed and bring it back with us (althought I must admit that I've forgotten twice!).

Give it a try - will solve the issue of fiber content, and makes the bed a much nicer place (in my opinion).

Good idea Jill. I have some bold tropical sheets that would fill the bill. They might even fit in with the decor.

You know, Jill, I have seriously considered buying a king fitted sheet for use only at DVC. At least I know I am not the only one!

We bought and brought a king fitted sheet with us on our last two trips "home" to OKW. What a difference!! We didn't find ourselves sleeping on the mattress pad in the morning! On full cleaning days I just stripped the sheets and tossed ours in the washer. The only downside was taking apart a "made" bed to put our sheet back on, but the 2 minute effort was worth the final result!

If this is a concern (doesn't really bother me personally), why not buy a set of those elastic corner holder contraptions? It's like a short piece of elastic with clips at each end - they're designed to hold on sheets that are too small, but I would assume they'd work for this. Sure would be easier to lug around than a whole King size sheet!

A stupid sheet question:

Are the sheets King Size or Cal King Size? Are those the same thing? All that I can find around me are Cal King Size!

Thanks.

Deb

They're regular king size. A california king is wider than a regular king, but I'm not sure by how much.
