Tell me about the Rainforest Cafe

Okay guys.....just a little confused......THERE ARE 2 RAINFOREST CAFE'S???

Which is the better......... :earseek:

We eat at the Rainforest at DTD everytime we go, it is usually the first day we arrive. We like the diverse menu, which offers a WIDE variety and should make everyone happy. The atmospehere is great and is a lot of fun. We are a little biased we have been there about 8 times in the last 8 years.

It is sometimes crowded, but we put our name on the list go peak in some stores and come back and hang out in the Rainforest store until time to be seated. We love it! :goodvibes

We go to the one at DTD because the kids love it, and we usually visit there on a non-park day.

We have gone to the one at AK and they seem about the same to me, but the one at AK does serve breakfast and the DTD one doesn't.

I think it just depend on where you are going to be when you want to go to it. When we are doing the parks, we usually use counter service because we are on the go all day. When we go to DTD on our 'off day' we are going at a slower pace, so we like the sit down restaurant feeling better then.

I have eaten at three diff Rainforest Cafes(all in Southern CA), Atomosphere is great but food is average and overpriced. I would say on a good visit it is Sizzler quality(I am a steak person), but on a bad day not even that.

My kids loved it when the South Coast Plaza one opened up(bout six-seven years ago) but as they have gotten into their teens FOOD quality has become more important than decorations. Now we may go there once a year for a Birthday dinner when invited.

Yes there are two. One outside AK and one in DTD.

There are TWO at Disney resorts.

But there must be well over 20 in the US.

You can't make a PS at the Rainforest Cafe at DTD, but you can call the restaurant directly and make a regular reservation. I don't know the phone number off hand, but you can get it from www.rainforestcafe.com. That's what DH and I did for our upcoming trip. You can also view their menu on the website as well.

We've been to three different Rainforest Cafe locations on several occasions (San Francisco, Vegas, DTD Anaheim) and it's always been about the same experience every time. The food is always pretty good, and the service is generally pretty bad (service at DTD Anaheim *was* better than the other locations, maybe it was Disney magic). This is always preceded by a very long wait (sometimes a very, very long wait). If you have to wait a long time it's really not worth it unless you're there for the experience and not for the food. It is fun and a unique/unusual experience/atmosphere. But if you're there just for the food, skip it. We're going just because my DH loves it. I could basically take it or leave it.

They have very good burgers and fries (huge), and some sort of wrap sandwich I remember that was really good. Also the salads are huge and very good, as are the pizzas. Our favorite thing has become the fried chicken, which isn't really fried chicken in the usual sense. It's more like deluxe chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and vegetables. It's usually very good, and I'd recommend it. I've never tried the desserts, however, because after the huge meals, I've never had room!

We skip it. We have Rainforest Cafe in NJ so we dont visit it when we are on vacation (same thing with Planet Hollywood). We went to it a few years back (before we knew there was one in NJ) and though it has a cute theme with the thunderstorms and animals, the food leaves something to be desired and is way overpriced.

Advice: Don't go to Rainforest Cafe after or during a stressful or busy day.
The theming is great- but at some point you just want to sit and eat and talk to each other without having to shout over the elephants, gorillas, and the third or fourth thunderstorm. The place can truly bug those who may struggle with the sensory overload.

If you aren't getting a burger-expect to pay $20-25 for your meal. Our bill was over $80 including tip with two adults and two kids. We found it overpriced for the food and service you get (as we found at DTD Anaheim but thought we'd try it again)

I've only been to the one in Animal Kingdom but we love it. To be honest, I didn't care for the one here in Chicago, so I wasn't too excited to go into this one but it was worth it. The deco is really fun & the food was a heck of a lot better then it is here. The chicken fried chicken is especially awesome, I had a huge portion too :thumbsup2

My family and I always visit the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney Marketplace and we have always had a positive experience. Since we always eat there early we have never had any long waits for a table. After we gave them our name they always told us go in the Gorilla or Elephant line and were seated a few minutes later. Besides that their food is great and the service has always been excellent.

With the Safari Club, you get either a free appetizer or 10% off your total bill on each visit, and you get priority seating.

How does the free appetizer work? Is it off a purchase of a certain $ value? I'm asking because alot of times we split meals. :cutie:

The free appetizer requires the purchase of an entree. Two weeks ago, it was limited to 3 choices- mozz sticks, quesadilla, and something else. We got the quesadilla. It was good.
