I am looking for some info on the pirate cruise. I know its about 2 hours long. I think it leaves from beach club resort. What are the ages? I'll have an 8 year old and a 12 year old. What do the kids do on the trip? Do they get anything? And finally is it worth the 30 bucks for it? Thanks a bunch! :goodvibes

The pirate cruises are alot of fun but they are aimed towards younger children. I think the starting age is 4 yrs old and most of the kids fall between 4-7. There were 1-2 older kids each time but they were with younger siblings. I think there are atleast 4 different ones now. (1 from GF, 1 from BC/YC, 1 from CBR and 1 from POR/POFQ)

DS did it 3 times (1 at GF and 2 at BC) and he loved them. But I think he's already outgrown them at 7. We asked if he wanted to do it on our last trip and he chose not to.

They do get lunch, go on an adventure in the boat (depending on which cruise they take, they are slightly differently themed) and then get "treasure" at the end....plastic bugs, jewels, patches etc. It was definately worth the money.

I've never heard of the pirate cruises! Do you get info & sign up at your resort check-in? I have three daughters ages: 4, 9 & 11 that might be interested.

My oldest dd did it when she was 9 and in 3 weeks my youngest is going to do it and she is now 9.

They sail out of the Grand Floridian go to an island look for treasure eat a snack and just have fun.

You make reservations through the dining department and I think you can book 180 days out. They fill up early so if you are going to do it you need to book fast.

I have a question too. Are they on the boat for the 2 hours? That is the only thing that worries me.

No, they just go a little way to an island. They all wear life jackets.

Thanks, friends have a pantoon boat and I could imagine spending 2 hours on one. Pirate Cruise or not. I am really looking into one for August to make up for cancelling the cruise this year.

My three went on the one last year at BC. They were on the boat most of the time and went around the lake looking for the buried treasure. They got off the boat in Epcot and then again at the beach in front of the BC where they dug up the buried treasure. They had pirate bandanas, jewelry, coins, etc. They also get lunch on the boat. It was really cute and I would definitely let my kids do it again if they wanted to. They do wear life jackets and there were a couple CMs on the boat. We sent 5 kids on that ranged between 5 and 10 and all seemed to enjoy it. There were probably another 5-7 kids inthe same age range.

My 5 and 7 yo did the GF Cruise this past Dec. Here are a few pics if interested:

IMO, it was the best deal in Disney for $30 each. They got lunch, the cruise, a goody bag (just junk but they loved it), and a mickey ear pirate hat. The "pirates" on the boat played it up and had a mutany and treasure hunt, and my boys loved it. They stopped at the shore of WL and FW, I think. They had one 12 yo on board who was clearly the oldest of a sibling group, and she didn't look thrilled to be there, but it was perfect for ages 4-8, I'd say.

Oh, and they were very organized...had release forms, gave us a pager, etc. Hope that helps!!
