For Speeding...

Did you get out of it? How? Did you get the ticket? how fast were you going? How old were you?

I have never been issued a speeding ticket... ;)

Parking tickets... whole different story.

I was in high school and doing 90 in a 15. I ended up dating the cop that pulled me over for about a year.

Needless to say, I did not get a ticket.:p

I'm a speed demon, but I've never been caught speeding...knock on wood.

The only time I've ever been pulled over was when I ran a stop sign. It was 2 years ago (I was 23) and it was the day after I moved back home after separating from my exh. I was singing along to Shakira at the top of my lungs and blasted right through a stop sign (I checked first to make sure there were no cars coming ;) )...within sight of my house. I was so embarrassed and hoping no one I knew would drive by. I just got a written warning.

ETA: Oops, I just saw that you wanted speeding stories. I guess I'm still oblivious to what's going on around me.

Oh I'm so glad you asked;)

When I was 18 years old I was out with my friends on St. Patrick's Day. We went "downtown" to drink green beer:hyper:
(the drinking age was only 18 back then!)

On my way home I was approaching a stop light which just turned red. No one was around so I blew right through it

Uh oh, here comes those blue lights. The officer approached my car and said "do you know why I pulled over" and I said "no:rolleyes: " and he said "you just went through a red light" I looked at the officer and said

"but officer today is St. Patricks Day, I am only seeing green"

He let me off and thanked me for a good laugh:p

The first time I got pulled over was NOT for speeding. I was in or just out of high school. My friends and I were going bowling. IN THE RAIN, a P.O. pulled me over. POURING RAIN!! I rolled down the windows...yes, crank down the window in those days. ;) He checks my license, registration, and insurance. Walks back and looks at the back of the car...my Dad's car that I was using for the night!!!!!! Then he came back, handed me my stuff and said the light above the license plate in the back was out, it needs to be replaced. :faint: He scared me to death...in the pouring rain...for that? When I got home and told my Dad, he laughed! NOT NICE!!!

I was 18 and went through a yellow light...and it truly was yellow. This officer was known for pulling over teenagers. I'm generally pretty passive, but I knew the light had just turned yellow and I did not run a red.

I pretty much stood my ground and said that the light just changed, and it wasn't red. I didn't get a ticket.

I was 21 and much younger and cuter than I am now. When the officer came to check my license, he rested his left hand on the open window. I looked up at him and said, "Gee officer, I just can't believe I don't see a wedding band on that finger..." followed by a coy giggle and a hair flip. No ticket.

I guarantee that the outcome would not be the same today.

I was coming back from a concert with my best friend (really late at night) and I saw a car that looked like a police car behind me. Then he started tailgating me really bad and I got really scared. So he pulled me over and was really rude and told me that one of my head lights were out.

He also made me get out of my car and look at it and he talked about it for the longest time! I was shaking SO bad..

That was the only time I've been pulled over thank goodness!

Oh by the way I was 18 at the time.

Oh! I did get 2 speeding tickets when I had my Camaro. MAGNET! The first time, the P.O. gave me the lecture of a recent accident on a road in town where a guy in a Mercedes plowed into a Lincoln killing 6 people. :( That was out of the city limits. So he lectured me on how the mayor in the city wasn't going to let that happen on his roads! Then the P.O. said that with modern cars, it is very difficult to maintain the lower speeds. Thanks for the ticket.

The other time I didn't even talk. LOL! Late in the morning, dropping DS off at day care, then to work.

Happy mini-van driver about 3 years now. :teeth: No tickets with it! :)

I was 18. We (best friend and I) were going 50 in a construction zone which meant 25 mph and double fines for speeding. It was night so there weren't any workers around. Cop wrote the ticket and my best friend chimed in that my Dad was a cop. I showed him proof that in fact I was a police officers daughter and he tore up my ticket as a "professional courtesy". Man was I lucky.

Once...ten years ago... I had just visited my friend's house that was under construction(ours was being built at same time) ...and daydreaming about the color brick she chose and wondering if that color would work in our house...and I forgot it was past 2pm and hadn't slowed in front of a school(they were still in session, luckily) Sooo embarrssing.

Lets see the first time I was 22. 50 in a 35. I got a ticket. The next day the cop comes into my job - he was friends with my boss and I had just been bad mouthing him because I was angry at the ticket.

Second time I was doing 43 in a 35. Got a ticket. Go to work and its a cousin of someone I work with, she made a call and I got out of the ticket

Third time I was doing 53 in a 35. Got a ticket. 2 cop cars behind me. My dh drives past me calls me on my cell and asks what the heck did I do to have 2 cops pull me over!

Never been pulled over.

DH was once. The PO said we were doing 80 in a 65. We told him politely that our car would explode at that speed, it must have been someone else. It shook like a leaf at 60. He let us off.

Denae

I've only been pulled once. I was going down Beach Road in Nags Head, NC which has a 35 MPH speed limit. I was doing like 40-45. Passed a cop going the other way & sure enough, he did a u-turn & pulled me.

All I got was a warning. DH (bf or fiance at the time, can't remember) was so ticked. To this day still talks about how girls always get out of tickets.

Never been pulled. DH and I are both speed demons and he's been pulled once doing 100 on the highway in Indiana.

I was 20 and was pulled over by a state trooper. It was July and asked me why I had studded tires on my car. I said "What studs?" He just looked at me saying, "When you drive, don't you hear that clicking?" I told him I thought all cars sounded like that. He asked me to get out of the car and pointed to the tires, "Those are studs." I told him that I never really looked at the tires before.

I asked if I was going to get a ticket and he said "No, I'll explain about the tires to whoever takes care of your car, tonight when I pick you up for dinner."

We dated for awhile after that.:D

I really DIDN'T know about studded tires.

I was in high school and driving for one of the first times--coming back from a football game. My mom worked for the sheriff's dept as a dispatcher and a dear friend of the family was a lieutenant. Jimmy had given my license plate number out to all the cops that evening and told them if they saw me, pull me over and tell me he knew what I was doing. I got pulled over 3 times. I could've killed him--but I must admit that I was always a very careful driver because I knew that Jimmy's eyes were all around me.

My ex husband is a cop and he worked as a training officer for awhile. One morning I was late for work and going about 50 in a 35. I got pulled over and got out my license and registration. Well, it was this rookie's first time on the street and he freaked out when he realized he had pulled over his training officer's wife! The same training officer who had not yet signed off on his paperwork. He apologized up one side and down the other, then asked me "Would you please mind slowing down just a little, ma'am?" (He did get that signature, poor guy!) Just for the record, I never told him who I was--my ex's name was on the registration. I was willing to just take my lumps!

The first time I was 17 and was going to pick up some friends to go to an out of town football game. I was doing 38 in a 25. The cop followed me for about 5 blocks before turning on his lights. Scared me so bad I ran a red light! He gave me a ticket for speeding. Turns out his sister was one of the girls that was going with us!

DH does sheriff's reserves so I get all kinds of flack about speeding. I had 5 warnings over a 3 year period before I got a ticket. DH actually pulled me over once as a joke! I was coming home from a horse show with the pickup and horse trailer and this cop car pulls me over. My mom was with me and I was having a fit - couldn't figure out why I was being pulled over...up walks DH "Can I see your license and registration ma'am"

I was 17 and under pressure from my friend to speed to get her home in time for her curfew. I was unaware that the car behind me was a cop and got pulled over for 50 in a 35. The officer was being a total jerk and questioned me about who's car I was in. It was mine. He says "it must be nice that your parents just give you a car like this".....He then makes me get out of the car and lectures and questions me some more. pirate: Another cop shows up and just stands there and watches, doesn't say anything, but I think he felt bad. I got a ticket and ended up having to go to traffic school to get it off my record. That was the last speeding ticket I ever got. Now, I could probably get out of tickets since my DH and FIL were with the PD, but I haven't been pulled over in a really long time.
