So after watching the prices at the various hotels near MCO and coming to an agreement with our travel companions, we booked there.

From the pictures, the rooms look nice and spacious. Is it as clean and nice in real life?

What is the Managers reception like? Can you get a mixed drink or a cocktail or limited to beer and wine? Is it just one drink? (Of course, one drink limited to beer or wine is perfectly fine; I just want to get a clear picture of what the deal is)

How is their in house restaurant? Is it a safe enough area and reasonable walking distance to local restaurants? Is the shuttle available to take people to near by places e.g. restaurant/mall? What restaurants would you recommend?

Is the staff generally helpful?

I've read quite a few reviews on line, all most all of them were very positive but I would be interested in hearing about a DIS-er experience.

We usually stay the Hilton Garden Inn at MCO, but will actually be at the Embassy Suites at MCO next week for our next cruise. I will let you know how it is. We haven't stayed there in about a year, but last time it was very nice.

Thank you both for the replies. I look forward to DisneyFan's opinion and will take up Mom323's recommendation. (I spend so much time in the cruise forum, I forgot there were other parts to this board).

We stayed there last Feb. pre cruise for two nights. I had enough points that we got two free nights ;)

I thought it was a nice hotel. Good food for dinner and breakfast. Thought the staff was super nice. We traveled on my dds birthday last year and she mentioned it to the shuttle driver (she was 5). He went out of his way to tell the waitress and she brought a birthday dessert for her - so sweet.

The rooms were clean a spacious. The pool was kind of small but perfectly fine.

Have a great trip!

Oh awesome. The birthday surprise made me smile, what a wonderful gesture.

Thank you.

We stay at Embassy Suites often although we have not stayed at this location. The Managers reception is usually free cocktails and lite snacks. You can have mixed drinks but it is there house alcohol and most likely will not be a name brand. They typically don't limit the number of drinks either.

Enjoy your stay and your cruise.

I'll probably stick to a white wine, but the options are nice to know.

We stay here about once a year. We always use this as our precruise night. We take the free shuttle to hotel and back. Then use DCL bus to port. Great hotel! It's always clean and everyone is always super nice! We have two little ones, so nice to have the extra room (even though it is just one night). Manager's reception has no limit for drinks. There's always different snacks. We've had chips and salsa, popcorn, and veggies. There are plenty of places within walking distance to eat. We've never eaten dinner at the onsite restaurant. When we were there in October we walked to Chili's for lunch and then ordered pizza from a local place for dinner and had it delivered. Hope all this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions! Unfortunately, this year we aren't staying here since we are going on the MR. So, doing the same thing at the Embassy Suites at LAX. Hope we like it as much as we do the MCO one!

We have stayed here twice before cruises. It is a good Embassy Suites. The rooms are fine, with the usual mini-frig and microwave. The manager reception was great the first time, but only so-so the second time (snacks were popcorn and goldfish). As with all ES sites, the drinks are well drinks and draft beer. Only two per person at a serving, but you can go back. The restaurant (which had an aviation theme) was good, with the usual TGIF type fare. The pool is outside and unheated. So if you are going any time soon, it will probably not be used by anyone over 6.

We've stayed there a couple of times. Not an area to walk to restaurants but they might have area transportation. Lots of good places to choose from to eat our two favs are Bonefish Grill (more upscale), Orlando Ale House (reasonable good food and family friendly), Cracker Barrel, Chili's, TGIFridays Joe's Crab Shack, Sonny's BBQ and 5 Guys Burgers. I am sure there are even more than those to pick from.
