Tell me about SOARIN'

Thanks!
Yours turned out cute too!
That hotel is so pretty! Looking forward to staying there someday!
Welcome to the DIS as well!:wave2:

I would give anything if someone "in the know" was working at this attraction(right now) and was also a Diser. We're going in April and would love to know if there will be any soft openings! It sounds unbelievable.

I'll go a step further and say that Soarin' is the best ride at any amusement park. I don't mean to overhype it, especially considering that I'm a big roller coaster fan. It's no Rock n' Roller Coaster or Hulk, but I guess that's the point.

I've never actually hangglided, but I can't imagine that real hanggliding could be any better than this ride.

I could take my 67 year-old mom, my teenage nephew, and 5 year-old son on this ride, and all of us would put this near the top of our list.

There's no other attraction that can do this. (But I've still got to hit RnRR before my trip is complete.)

I agree. Gets me as close as I'll ever get to hang gliding.

The closest anyone should get, unless they're childless and have good life insurance. (Some life insurance policies expressly exclude hanggliding.)

When I was on the transplant service in medical school, the transplant surgeon always sung the praises of hanggliding. Hanggliders were even better than helmet-less motorcyclists for organ donation.

There's a lot of his patients who wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for the valiant stupidity of hanggliders.

We went to DCA in July and went on Soarin'. We opted for single rider option and we all got in at the same time, different sections. We all really enjoyed it. The seats do lift a bit and move as if you were on a hang glider, but very gently and not jerky. To me, it was very exhilarating. I was more comfortable on that than on Star Tours.

I agree that it is one of the best rides other than roller coaster type rides. I am one that used to get motion sickness on a regular basis, but now I don't. This didn't even faze me at all.

Very relaxing and smooth.::yes::

As with safetymom, closest I'll get to actual hang gliding.

I think a good test would be if the movie in the France pavillion does not invoke motion sicjness, you will be fine on Soaring.

and she is able to ride it. The height is 40" I just checked Disneylands site.
I have to say that I am not really prone to motion sickness, but I do get a little queasy at a few points. I don't like heights either, and there is one point right when you go over the top of a mountain that it feels like you are so high that I get a little uncomfortable. But I still love it!!

The seat motion and video are also very well coordinated, so your ear and your eye should agree on what you see.

My DS3 went on the DCA version last year, and the very beginning was a bit nervous for him (when you are lifted from the ground into the "clouds", but after that he loved it, and wanted to ride it again. For reference, he wouldn't touch Jumpin' Jellyfish in the same park.

This sounds great! I can't wait to experience it!
I just wish it would be open in time for our upcoming trip.:(
It looks like we will have to wait until next year's trip to get a taste of the action!
