We were at VWL from Dec 10-18 this year and had a blast. :cool1: We had minimal crowds until the 17th when things really pick up in the parks.

We're thinking of going back next year but a week earlier. Part of that is to try and have slightly lower weekend crowds (if possible) but mostly because Christmas came so fast on the heels of the trip that my head is still spinning. I need another week between WDW and Christmas to maximize my enjoyment of both. So .....

How bad is pop warner week?
How far ahead do we need to book rooms?
Is the crowd really that different between the 2 weeks?
Do the players really stay out of the parks for the most part?

We were there 11/29 to 12/6 this year. Do NOT stay at POR - it was a nightmare. Huge groups taking over whatever space they want - the middle of checkin - the sidewalk - you name it. When they are in the foodcourt - its a mess. We did not see large groups in the parks - but it was clear they were there with their families (printed jackets. tees, etc gave them away). Crowds did increase as they arrived for the week. We were glad to get out when we did - just a couple days of them was more than I would wish on anyone. The adults took over the juacuzzi - not to soak, mind you - but only to dangle their feet - and there they sat for hours - as if they were the only ones in the place. Being in such close proximity to the pool - you would think they would keep an eye on their kids - but, no, they were left to run wild! I am not saying they were all rude - we actually encounter a couple nice and personable families there for PW - but overwhelmingly (and specifically from one geographic area I will not name) they were rude and inconsiderate of anyone else. If we had to do it again we go later when they were gone or toward the end hoping they would be leaving as their competitions come to an end. It is so totally unfair to other Disney guests to have to put up with all of it. So, you can see - I recommend avoiding it - especially at the resorts!!!

Also, if you are looking for a quieter weekend - don't forget that the first weekend they tape the parade - crowds were pretty bad everywhere over the weekend - I have never seen Downtown such a mess - it was a total mob scene over the weekend - it quieted down after that.
