I've heard that pre-checking in online is an option. How does this work once you arrive at the Fort if you've already checked in? Do you skip the line? I vaguely remember this from the past, and I thought we still had to wait in line and didn't see any benefit to doing it.

While I haven't actually done the "Online Check-in", as I understand it, you still have to stop to get your assignment (and parking pass, etc...) however the process is now accelerated because of the online check-in, there is less to do when you do stop.

Online check-in worked well for us twice. October and December 2015, both busy times of the year. I would definitely use it again. Still had to drive up and wait in line with other vehicles, but when we got to the window, gave CM my driver's license, she printed out parking passes, handed us a packet and told us our site was in the exact loop we had requested at online checkin. I think the process was smoother and faster than when I did not do the online. Nothing to loose using online chick-in and I felt a lot to gain.

Thanks for that link Ed. I read the entire thread and I've got a question. We're bringing our dog, but we want 700 loop and have a fifth wheel with an awning. It looks like we need to choose 3 of the selections, but the one choice I really want is the loop, which isn't as important as choosing fifth wheel, awning AND pet! What do I do?

And on another note, are there any fifth wheels out there without awnings? Seems like that bubble could be "fifth wheel with awning"

We have used on line check in a number of times. Less paperwork and questions. If you check in early they will ask you if you want to wait for your pre assigned spot (usually in the Loop you ask for) or they sort of give you a choice of other available spots or loops. The 700 Loop is Premier, pet friendly loop that will handle just about ANY size rig with slideouts and awnings so don't worry about that question. The longest wait we ever had was about an hour. By the way, they won't tell you your spot number just the Loop. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Napria, if you want 700 loop then I assume you have a Premium reserved. And Premiums can handle the biggest rigs with all sorts of slides, awnings, and overhangs. So in your case I wouldn't bother with the awning or 5er bubbles. That's probably more relevant if you have a 42 foot trailer with awnings and slides and trying to fit it into a Full or Preferred site. Now THAT might be tight. :crowded:

So click "700" and "pet" and then cross your fingers. 700 is nice - the low numbers (701, 702, etc) are on the end of the loop nearest the Meadow Trading Post and its higher numbers (in the 730's) are on the end nearest the beach.

Personally I like the early online checkin method in MDE.

Thanks again, Ed! Yes, we do have a Premium booked. So I'll go ahead and take your suggestion.

We had requested 700 loop before and were put in 800 loop (again). 800 loop is fine, but we'd really like to be in 700, and we're always put in 800.
