Tell me about Ohana

So did they stop serving the shrimp skewers??!! Was just booking OHana's for our Dec trip as everyone returning LOVED the shrimp!

This made my heart stop:sad: so I called WDW Dine! The shrimp ARE still there!!!! :woohoo::yay:

Not to hijack...but what do they serve at breakfast?

We did breakfast April '08 and this is what I remember having for breakfast:

welcome bread
some type of passion fruit juice that was awesome (couldn't get enough)
sausage
bacon
biscuits
scrambled eggs
mickey waffles

fresh fruit
coffee/tea

It was a good breakfast in my opinion and they would bring more of anything you asked. It's a family style breakfast and they bring all the hot food in a big skillet to your table. We asked for more fruit because we devoured it.

Thanks for checking!! That's really great news!:woohoo:

I have eaten at O'Hana 3 times - two times it was awesome (!) one meal was OK, service was rushed, meat was dry, etc. Fortunately that was the meal I had the big pineapple drink at - so I didn't get very upset about everything - that drink is a wonder!;) Looks like I'll need to order another as soon as I sit down this year!

I am so excited to eat there for the first time! I have always noticed how Ohana has such a loyal following on the disboards, and somehow I never booked a ressie there for dinner.:confused3 We even stayed at the Poly a few years ago but only ate at the Lilo and Stitch breakfast. I know my kids will love the coconut races, all the meat, and one of their favorite foods is potstickers/dumplings!popcorn::

Ohana's is great! It is pretty busy and had to wait even with reservations. But we asked for a window table and got it. We made the reservations 45 minutes before fireworks at MK. When the fireworks go off they dim the lights and you hear the music playing that goes with the fireworks. The food was delish. They are huge portions that you share. Young kids do a parade thing around the restaurant. Love IT!

:thumbsup2 Now I don't feel bad about having 3 dinner ressies there out of 9 nights!

I think that you should feel bad about that, and therefore cancel all of your reservations. In fact, anyone eating at 'Ohana during the beginning of October should cancel. Yeah, that's right, cancel them all....;)

I couldn't get any 'Ohana dinner reservations, and have only been checking and checking about 3 times per day.....:headache:

I call that often for a BBB seating on 11/30! I am convinced soon they will answer and say, "Hello Taryn...no one has canceled...sorry!" princess:

I've heard of the coconut races and entertainment, but are there disney characters at this meal?

Is it just Lilo and Stitch at the breakfast, or are there more characters?

This place was great. We ate here twice during our stay and im so glad that we decided to go twice. The first time 4:30 was a little early so im not sure if they had the entertainment or not (we left around 6:00), but the second time we had a 5:00 ressie and they had entertainment for the kids at 5:30. Loved the first time but the 2nd time was even better. Make sure you come hungry. They waiters offer many helpings throughout the meal (i took advantage and ate tons of shrimp). Dessert is the bomb!

WOW up to 3 pages and I haven't seen anyone mention the much missed potatoes
We have been twice, last time wasn't as good as the first, maybe due to the noodles instead of the potatoes lol ( or maybe the waiter that was wearing very tight pants and had decided to go commando that night:lmao: ) , but actually the noodles aren't bad either and I really like the potstickers. We didn't have shrimp the second time, so maybe its only on certain nights?:confused3
But we go every trip and plan to go again in Dec.

The Poly is our favorite resort and couldn't get ressies at O'Hana last year so we were very excited to have dinner there this time. It's true that dinner seems "rushed". The food comes out fast and it is hard to enjoy the little show and eat all at the same time. DD's wanted to take part in all the activities so I had to keep getting their food and putting it one their plates...it was cold by the time they got back to the table but they didn't complain. :thumbsup2 I also thought the hawaiin singer was great...total lounge singer type but did a really nice job. I liked her voice, her personality, she seemed to REALLY love her job!!!:cheer2:

The shrimp was YUMMY, the steak and pork was also great...the chicken was dry but the potstickers were AMAZING. I could have eaten just those all night. SO delish! The dippin sauces were also good and I used those for the meat as well. Salad and noodles were good also. I have no complaints.

I've never gone to Ohana with kids, so we always ask to be seated by the window. Not only does this get you away from the "action" but it puts you in a good spot to see Wishes from MK!

One time a friend and I were seated too close to the walkway where they do the parade and games. Not only were little kids running into our table and trying to grab my drink, but the parents were surrounding our table taking pictures of them!

The dessert is to die for and it would taste SO good right about now!

Does anyone happen to know if they serve the coconut pineapple bread at both breakfast AND dinner? We had some of it when we went to Spirit of Aloha this past trip and are wanting to know when/where we can get more lol

Had dinner there last week and no coconut pineapple bread. It must be a breakfast thing.

IMHO, O'Hana is either a love it or hate it as far as the food goes and the service tends to be very, very good or very, very bad. The meats are abundant and are cooked very thoroughly. Very. If your family likes well done meat, you're in good shape. DH loved it; I thought we were eating jerky-on-stick. I've never had good service there. The last time there we had to repeatly ask for more meat and for drink refills. It's not a place I plan to go abck to, but I would go if I was with others who wanted to do so.

We had dinner there last ummer. We all enjoyed the evening. My son ordered a special non-alcoholic frozen drink from the bar while we were waiting to be seated. It was the highlight of his trip!

My DH, D-sis and myself will be eating at O'hana for dinner on our upcoming trip. It'll be our first time ever eating there for any of it. Tell me what you can about it. How is the food? Any good or bad places to sit if we have a choice?

Sorry I don't have any advice for you but You freaked me out, when I read this!-- I'll be eating at Ohana with MY DH and Dsis, too! And what's my Dsis's name? Yup. Allie. ... TOTALLY weirded me out...

I hope you enjoy your meal there-- I hear it's great. I have ADRs there in May, too.
