My DH, D-sis and myself will be eating at O'hana for dinner on our upcoming trip. It'll be our first time ever eating there for any of it. Tell me what you can about it. How is the food? Any good or bad places to sit if we have a choice?

We ate there this Spring. For appetizers they bring dumplings and chicken wings, there is salad, veggies and noodles brought family style they come around with skewers of meat -- turkey, beef, shrimp and pork. For dessert it's bread pudding with ice cream. I thought the food was very good.

We were seated at a table for three (yes, this restaurant has true tables for 3) right along the walkway where the little parade/show goes by. That was okay for us because it kept DD interested, but it can be a hectic place to sit with lots of people going by the table.

It is a very cool place. PP didn't mention the bread. It is a wonderful slightly sweet bread, mmm I could go for some right now. I am a carb nut so the bread left an impression on me....lol

Also with the dumplings (I do believe they are like Pork wonton things, someone correct me if I am wrong) they bring 3 dipping sauces. One is a peanut sauce and I can't remember the other 2 but they are good too!

When we were there I used the sauces on my meat as well. I like sauces (just like a kid with dippers....lol) :lmao:

Also if you are eating when the fireworks show is going on at MK they pipe in the music and if you are lucky enough to be by a window you can see them. Very cool.

I have heard (will try one in december) they have an awesome alcohol drink called the Lapu Lapu. I also want to try their Pina Colava. :cloud9:

I loved Ohana! The salad, noodles, and broccoli were delicious. We sat in the middle in the most obnoxious area possible. The little show was performed right on top of us and there were children leaning on our table. We still loved it, though!

I've eaten there 2 times. Once with a party of 4 adults and 2 teens. It was a cluster!!! Our food arrived simultaneously (I mean appetizers, salad, veggies and meats!) and just milleseconds after our adult beverages. There was nothing relaxing or no thought given to the pacing of the meal. The food was, for the most part, good.

DD wanted to try it with 4 adults and 2 young kids and the meal was better. Since I knew that pacing was a challenge for the servers, I took control to ask them to come back with food if we weren't ready for it. That meal was much nicer. I will say that the steak on that trip had a flavor like charcoal lighter that hasn't burnt off enough--but everything else was good--especially dessert.

The second trip, the kiddies in the group enjoyed the coconut races and the "entertainer". I think that the entertainer sounds like a cat in heat. Her voice is just awful!! If you go, you want to make sure you are not seated too close to her because she is loud and proud:goodvibes

To say we hated it is putting it mildly - cluster is another good word for our experience. We ate there 12/07. The only thing we liked was the salad. We only had the meat skewers (perhaps they forgot to bring us the shrimp etc too), no dessert (which utterly disappointed our son)... It was a dismal experience from the food to the service - had it been a "normal" restaurant we would have had our meal comped. Frankly, it should have been comped anyway. We were on DDP - not free. There was some fatty pork thing - most of it was gross, lumpy and fatty - other than the meat skewers (also fatty, but not so bad) and the salad. We enjoyed every other meal we had - with Spoodles being our favorite. We're local now and frequently eat at the parks, but we will never return to Ohana. The activities for the kids were fun, but the rest was frankly one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We eat a healthy low fat diet - so likely wouldn't have loved Ohana's even if it hadn't been so terrible. I know it's popular, but IMHO there are vastly better places to eat...

We ate there in 2007. IIRC they were serving beef, turkey and sausage. Shrimp was not on the menu at the time. The sticky wings were to die for.
I make them at home now using an All-Ears reciepe.

We are returning for a dinner and a breakfast on our upcoming trip. Dinner was great on our last trip but we have never had breakfast at O'hana. DF told me yesterday at soccer practice that they will be going the week after we return and we discussed breakfast in depth. She said it was very good. I can't wait! At dinner last Sept we loved the salad with its yummy dressing, the "dumpling things" as we call them, the veggies, the chicken wings (and I normally don't eat chicken!), the shrimp & meat skewers (again, I don't usually eat turkey but these skewers were juicy and good), and the dessert. Our DD10 is allergic to peanuts and they went the EXTRA mile to make sure she got a wonderful meal without danger of exposure. The chef even brought her a special dessert. In fact we all joked that we should have all claimed to be allergic to get a brownie & ice cream stacked that high. They made her feel like a true princess. This was special since her allergies cause her to mis out on many things. The entertainment is very energetic. There was a man "cousin" doing the hookie-lau (sp?) when we were there and he was very talented & funny. We participated in the dances and games so we loved it. A family that prefers watching and not being in the middle of things might wish to request a table near the corner or windows. Hope that helps. Have FUN!

We ate there last week and loved it. We thought the food was very good and DS(3) had the best time. Not all of us loved everything they served but they serve so many things it was easy to find several favorites to fill up on.

We were sitting by the windows, just past the grill area, so not in the center of it all but close enough to see what was going on. DS left the table several times to join the fun and made friends with the kids at the table next to us. We found the general atmosphere friendly and fun. We will definitly go back.

Our only disappointment was we had wanted to walk to the beach to watch the electric parade and fireworks but it was down pouring rain. But we can't blame them for that.:goodvibes

O'Hana is our absolute family fave thus far:thumbsup2 We were there in April this year and are returning for a dinner and a breakfast (we missed last time b/c DD7 got sick:sick:). Everthing was SO SO SO good! My DS, who can be so picky, loved EVERYTHING and that is saying alot. We had a 9:45p ressie and watched the EWP on the beach while we waited for our table. We were lucky enough to get a window seat and watched wishes while we enjoyed our wonderful meal. No activities were going on that late at night, which made for a nice relaxed meal too:cloud9: The dining room really started to empty out while we were there, and we were not complaining about that either! Our "cousin" was great too! Brought chicken nuggets for my DD7, who started to fall ill that very evening and spent 99% of the meal asleep in my lap, so they didn't charge us for anything since she didn't touch a thing...not even the ice cream our "cousin" brought just for her. Here's a pic just to prove how much my "boys" loved it....

She woke up long enough to say "Mommy, what color is the castle now?"

And the so delicious, ever so popular, bread pudding MAMMOTH dessert...

Dinner at 'Ohana's is :lovestruc :cheer2:!!

It's hands down my families favorite and a MUST do each trip. As a matter of fact, we are staying 9 nights in October and have 3 dinner ADR's booked for 'Ohana's!!

I love the salad with they yummy dressing and the sticky terriyaki chicken wings. The steak is my favorite meat that they bring around...soooo tender and yummy!

My youngest son (13) adores the pot stickers, lo-mein noodles and the steak.

Oldest son (16) loves it all!

But what surprised me the most is the dessert. We always get 2 orders of it! I am NOT a banana fan and don't really care for bread pudding but the banana bread pudding w/ ice cream is FABULOUS!!! My dear friend just returned from eating at 'Ohana's and her waitress gave her the recipe...I can't wait to try making it at home!

32 more days until culinary happiness! :yay:

We ate there for breakfast last week. The food was pretty good, but the character interaction was not very well organized IMO. It took forever for any of the characters to get to us. (I think we were finished eating by then.) At one point, three of the characters were literally a table's distance from one another. We decided we wouldn't eat there on any future trips.

We hated it!!! I could have gotten the food at Trader Joe's and saved alot of money. The meat was either dry or fatty. And I have never been more rushed in a meal. As soon as I put one bite in my mouth the next course was out. We were soooo excited to eat at Ohana and couldn't have been more disappointed. I will NEVER go back!

We will be there for 3 nights at the end of this month and are staying at the Poly and have ADRs at 'Ohana all 3 nights! :lovestruc

:thumbsup2 Now I don't feel bad about having 3 dinner ressies there out of 9 nights!

And I have never been more rushed in a meal. As soon as I put one bite in my mouth the next course was out.

Ok, these types of "complaints crack me up (this is the 2nd one on this thread re: rushed meal) :lmao:! I'm sorry, but it's a family style restaurant designed to have very little, if any spacing between courses, depending on what you want. I just can't imagine a server, who surely wants a tip, blatantly ignoring your request to slow things down or space out the family style meal :confused3? I'm just waiting for someone to "complain" that the food came in ONE bowl and they had to share :rotfl:!

If it's your first time there go with an open mind. I have been there over 15 times and still enjoy going. We went two times last week! The place is not as good as it used to be, but we still love it. Since you have never been you will have nothing to compare it to. You have a 50/50 shot at getting a good waiter/waitress. That will either make you a lover or a hater. They bring out the side dishes first, then sometimes they come at you from all angles, 3 or 4 at a time with all the meats at once. Don't think of this part of the meal as seperate courses, think of it as your main course. When you get your main course at any other restaurant it's all on the plate at once. So you will have the beef, pork, turkey, and shrimp on your plate at once. Some feel they are being rushed when this happens. Just take your time eat at your pace. If you like your meat med or well done ask for it that way. If you get a piece of meat thats dry, fatty, burnt, or raw don't eat it, ask for another. If you want more of something ask for it. (including the dessert) I like to eat a lot of shrimp, and I mean a lot. I feel they kind of hord the shrimp, like they don't like to give it away. They usually bring it last. When they come with the shrimp I'll say you can give me the whole skeweer if you want. But they give me 4 or 5 and walk away. Then each time they come back I just have to keep asking for more. After about the third or fourth time they just ask me how many I want. Good luck, I hope you enjoy it :)

We absoultely love O'hana!! We go every year...usually on my b'day (this year we are going on DMIL's b'day)! The PP was right in the mark...the servers are not rushing you. They are trying to fill you plate, like you would receive in a "normal" TS restuarant. Just remember, you have to control the pace of your meal!
As for the food, we think it is excellent! Especially the banana bread pudding for dessert! I think its the best dessert on property. Skip lunch and go hungry!!!

Enjoy Cousin's

So did they stop serving the shrimp skewers??!! Was just booking OHana's for our Dec trip as everyone returning LOVED the shrimp!
