Hi all, I think my kids may enjoy riding Nemo, but I rarely see any posts about this ride.

Is this ride considered a must ride for most.. are the lines long during rope drop? Is this something you'd head to first, possibly missing out on fastpasses?

Tell me anything and everything you know about the ride.

It is very cute.
Not good if you have claustophobia, as you are in a submarine for 13.5 minutes. You sit on a seat, and have a small window in front of you. Then you just go by different scenes from the movie.
It does have very long lineups, so go early.

The lines were crazy long this past weekend...However, we got on right before the park closed....to me, it was not worth it if you have to wait a long time! Kinda reminded me of the original but with Nemo! I say do it first or last thing if you must!

Agreed. I do not think this ride or any ride for that matter is worth it to stand in a long line up. Nemo is cute and a must see. Best time to see it is during your Magic Morning or first thing when the gates open. Head right into the park and go straight there. You will get on within minutes. Some times the wait is not bad before closing either. But yes some times people do feel claustrophbic in that ride. I dont normally ever feel that way, but the ride made my chest feel a little tight. I had to keep looking at the ceiling a few times to see the light from the sky pouring into the door window.

We were on it 1.5 years ago (not too long after it opened). Didn't thing it was that great. My almost 3 year old at the time didn't think it was that great either. She didn't want to go back on it again.

I have a question too...

I will be 29 weeks pregnant when we go in May... am I going to be able to comfortably get on/off the ride? I've heard you have to climb down a ladder to get into the sub?

Ah, yes, Nemo, home of the "Nemo Stampede!"

Since it reopened as Nemo's subs a couple of years ago, it's been very popular. However, it's a very slow loader, so the lines are almost always the worst in the park. Therefore, it's engendered the stampede that happens nearly every morning as people try to hit it first before the lines grow huge. If you get to the gate 45 minutes before opening, then walk briskly straight for Nemo as soon as you get through the gate (or through rope drop at the top of Main Street) you might make it on within 1/2 hour. A lot of people just plain RUN, despite CMs all along the route calling, "No running, please!" People have reported being trampled by strollers, or alternatively, that people actually vaulted over their kids in strollers running for the subs.

We used up one precious Magic Morning to do the Nemo Stampede. We made it onto the first sub. But it wasn't worth it, IMHO. It's a cute ride, but we were up and at the security stations by 6:10 a.m. (for a MM start of 7 a.m.).

My kids liked it, but weren't interested in doing it again. DD13 said she had "personal space issues" since you're packed in like sardines on very narrow seats. If you're claustrophobic it would be a bad scene. As I said, cute, but not really worth all the fuss.

There is an alternative: they have a viewing room where those with disabilities, who can't get onto the subs, can view the same video as runs in the subs. You can ask the CM and they will direct you there; for families with children who can't wait in line that long, it's usually much less of a wait. Some people wait in line anyway to do this; but others have reported that you can just go directly to the viewing room without waiting. Anyone can use this option, not just those with accessibility issues.

Hope that helps!

Depends how big you get!!! It is a little awkard to get down the round staircase! It was strange for me and I am a just a little chubby! But I am also a klutz!!! :)

We rode Nemo last week, stood in line for 45 minutes during a fairly slow week (other rides were much smaller for wait times, including some of the slow loaders like Pan and Dumbo). I liked it, and if you've never done it and are there for several days, would put it on the list. My 6 year old---not so much. There is a volcano part that was dark and scary. My 3 year old thought it was great. My dad was a little "meh" and his wife LOVED it. So pretty varied reactions from our group. The bigger Nemo or water fans you are, the better I think you'll like it.

I was not a big fan of Nemo. After riding it I looked at DBF and said "that's it". I don't remember much about the original subs since I was so young. I guess I didn't expect to ride in a submarine and watch the characters on a tv. We did Nemo once on our last visit. I wouldn't be upset if we didn't do it again on this trip, but I'm sure my son will want to so we will. The little girl next to us last year...fell asleep during the ride. Her face was smashed up against the window by the end of the ride. I thought that spoke volumes on how exciting the ride was.

I'm sorry. I'm confused. You get on a sub, you ride around a lagoon, but what you're watching is a film? Or is it similar to the Living Seas in FL in that you are seeing the real contents of the lagoon with the animated stars superimposed in some way on that scene?

Because if the sub's "windows" are just basically little television screens and everything you're seeing on the screen is animation, I'm not sure my pooh sized self and husband are going to try and squeeze into the subs. :rotfl:

YOu see the real contents and the characters are superimposed. I just wasn't expecting that at all.

Thanks. It's helpful to understand so we can plan accordingly. We'll likely only attempt it during a parade or near the end of the night. Because we're not the biggest Nemo fans.

But the subs from 20,000 Leagues are about the only thing I do remember from my 1973 trip to Walt Disney World when I was 5. They were gone by the time I went back in 1995. So I'm feeling nostaligic about the "ride" itself :goodvibes

We were there last week and went straight for Nemo after entering for Early Morning. We pretty much walked right now. My daughter is 3.5 and parts of it scared her. It was okay, but we only did it once. I don't think I would stand in line too long for it, so it was perfect for Early Morning.

That's what we did...we waited until right before closing before we got in line. It moved pretty quick

The lines were long, but they moved pretty quickly. They load 40 people into a sub every 2-3 minutes, so 500 people can move through the line in about 30 minutes. My kids (3 and 5, big fans of Nemo) enjoyed it. The ride lasts quite a while (15 minutes), so it's worth a little wait. It was more spacious inside than I expected. The ladder to get in and out is probably most comparable to (or slightly easier than) the ladders on real submarines or aircraft carriers, if you've ever toured one of those.

I liked it ok, I wasnt as impressed as I thought I'd be. There are a couple of jokes made that refer to the old ride so for those of us who are nostolgic for the old subs, thats pretty cool. It has long lines, but I wouldnt miss a fast pass for it. Also if you decided to ride it dont get stuck in the back of the sub, we did that and kept only getting to see the tail end of things.

Apparently, I am in the minority, but we love Nemo. Of course, Nemo is one of DH's fave movies, and I loved the subs as a kid. It is also my toddler nephew's favorite ride - he tries to talk to all the fish.

We go first thing in the morning on non-MM mornings. They have always quoted 45+ min., but we make it on in 20.

We were there Friday night. Our first time riding NEMO. We had no clue what it was like or about....just always saw these long, long lines and then would watch the sub as it would travel through the lagoon.

So during Fantasmic we tried it. It is a slow board...down the steps into the sub. We were first in line so we would be the LAST out...no biggie but DH who loves every single ride in WDW and DL...told us afterwards he would not be riding that again....to close, to claustrophobic. I did not sense that at all from him but he said he just remained COOL and tried to concentrate on the window. There is air coming out of a little pipe on each window. I kept looking up at the lights until they shut them off. Once we passed the WALL and were able to see into the lagoon, I liked it.

NEMO is adorable and the story is great.

I think everyone should try it at least once. The pregnant poster on here, I think you will be fine going down the steps as everyone boards very slowly..holding onto both the railings. The seats are ok as well.

I got to DL at about 11 and did not make it to Nemo until 1 pm on the 5th of february. I and my friend drove right to the head of the line and the line for regular guests was very very long like about 10 minutes. Most of the people in the line got on the same sub as me, lol.

Go very early on a weekday and use MM if you can to be there. Get a fastpass if they have one. I think the lines are being hyped as being horrid but with planning one can do the lines quickly.

The subs do not actually go under water and it is a gentle ride. The last seat is for the disabled guests but it is over the stairwell so short legs are needed, lol. No back support except for the metal tubing. They have flowing air to help with the claustrophobia but for those who are unable to go into a small room or closet then skip this ride. Lots to see and do and not sure what is what but there is real stuff and the animated scenes which blend in. Some kids may not like the darkness of the ride. Youtube will show you the whole ride if you are still unsure.
