tell me about MNSSHP

We've been to WDW a lot, but never in October. We're going with a big group and lots of little kids. How is MNSSHP? How much is it? Times and stuff? Are the crowds bad? Was it worth the money? And how really not so scary is it if you have little ones who are easily scarable?

I've gone every year for the last 5 years - it's not too expensive, maybe $35 or so for adults - it's not at all too scary for young ones - a GREAT time! Lots of trick or treating, a fantasic parade!, Unbelieveable fireworks!

Being a "hard ticketed event" it starts at like 7pm and runs to midnight.Worth every cent in my opinion!

I'm also interested in MNSSHP. I am taking my 3 grandchildren to WDW the first week of Oct. They are 2,4,and 6. Do you think it will be to much for the 2 yr old? I'm just not sure if I should plan on this for them. Any thoughts from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

We have gone for the the past 3 years. My DD was 2 and DH 4 the first time we went, and they loved it and still do. It is not scary, but fun like an another poster mentioned. The kids dress up in their costumes and trick or treat thru MK. I do bring an extra set of clothes because after a couple hours they are hot from being in their costumes. There are designated places for the kids to get candy from, you will see giant balloons above the places. CM's are in costumes and ghosts (not scary) are flying on the mainstreet buildings. The most poplular ride on those nights are of course, The Haunted Mansion.

Even though it begins at 7pm, I've heard that you can enter at 4pm. I have not done this, so maybe someone else can tell us more about that.

Try to get in a nap that day, and I think your 2yo will have fun.

DH just happened to have a conference in Orlando during Oct. last year. DD8, DD5 were at home with the grandparents. We had DD18months with us. After his conference let out we decided to go, got there right at 7:00. We loved it. It was so much fun. We rode pretty much everything in Fantasyland and did Buzz before eating at Cosmic Rays around 8:00. After that we watched the fireworks which were awesome, and then rode Pirates and watched the parade. We were pretty worn out after that, so we went ahead and left around 11:00. It was worth every penny, even the guilt I felt that my oldest 2 DD's weren't there! I second what the other poster said about being able to get in at 4:00 with just your MNSSHP ticket. If you wanted to sleep in and rest by the pool and then hit the park at 4:00 you would get your monies worth for sure. You also get a free photo of your group. If you are going to be there during several days, I would pick a weekday over weekend, because a lot of locals come on the weekends and I think they tend to be more crowded than the weeknights. The 31st always sells out early, I think we were there Sunday the 17th. We bought our tickets the day before as I wanted to make sure that the weather was going to be decent, since they are nonrefundable.

Do you mean that you don't have to also have park admission that day? That would be great if that's right.

We've been to MNSSHP in 10/99 and 10/01. I recall the tickets going on sale around May/June ? Can someone verify this ? Have a great time. We love this time of year.

DW and I went to MNSSHP in early Oct 2003 - just us, no children - and we had a great time! Of course, we were in costume: DW was a cat (mrrrow ) and I was, duh, in scrubs. It truly was "not so scary"; I'd have to say that "that scene" in Bambi would be scarier. Lots of kids, in and out of costume, all seemed to be having fun.

What we liked most is that the entire feel of the MK was so different; odd & eerie lighting, fog/mist here and there, the music was "Halloween-y". It is a hard-ticket event, and after the 9PM fireworks (just trying out "Wishes") a lot of the families with smaller children were leaving, so the park got nice and empty by around 10:30 (reletively empty).

We thought it was a unique and great time; if we're down there during MNSSHP, we'd do it again!

If you dont try to enter the park until after 4 pm, you DONT need park admission on top of a ticket to MNSSHP! It is great if you are stretching the number of days on your hoppers.

I loved this event last year and will definately be going back next year (have to skip this year because a little one is due Oct 17th ) Last year, our boys were 2 and 4 and we ended up staying until midnight. I will tell you that I don't think you can do EVERYTHING in one night at those parties. There are shows and parades and trick o treating and rides to ride. When you first enter, you get a special map with show times and places to trick o treat marked on it. You get a copy of the family picture (I think these are taken at several places) for each person in the picture which is nice for sharing! We went to MIckey's house very late in the evening (11:30) and I was kinda pooped so I stayed outside with the stroller and let hubby and the boys go in. The boys came RUNNING back out because Mickey was in there ALONE and chasing them. He was dressed as a farmer and they insisted I had to come and play with Mickey with them! It was a fantastic moment!!! Minnie was at her house and only had 2 other families in line so they also really enjoyed that. They also got to play in the playground area there ALONE which was great for a last hurrah before putting them back on the bus to head to our hotel.

I told the boys before we went in, as long as they were behaving and not grumpy, we would stay as long as they wanted to stay. They are going to be lil Disney troopers just like Mom because they really did have the time of their lives and lasted until Midnight!

We also went to the Christmas party last year and focused on shows and the parade. I am hoping to do this party again at some point, but I will say that if I had to choose, Halloween wins hands down.

Wow, that's great news. We nevver spend a whole day anyway, since it's too much for the kids - we always end up with a big break in the middle of the day for everyone, but this would give us a good way to go for another night.

Last October, late in the afternoon, CMs began to herd everyone out of the park for MNSSCP. The only ones allowed to stay were those with MNS passes, who were temporarily confined to Tomorrowland until the party started. The only exception was for people who had PS (as we did, at Liberty Tree); and we were personally walked to the restaurant by a pleasant, costumed CM to make sure we didn't wander into the closed areas.

The party, by the way, was a lot of fun. Our group was mostly adults with 2 pre-teens. We all had a lot of laughs. My wife bought an inexpensive Cruella deVille costume and the rest of us dressed as dalmations: spotted T-shirts and dog hats. We were glad that the costumes were simple and comfortable. And the CM Cruella marching in the parade stepped out of line and chatted with us for several minutes!
