As we are going when the halloween party nights are on I was wonderig if anyone who had been could give me a bit more information.

* What was the highlight of your party?
* Do you know if they offer candy for children with allergies?
* Are there any rules on the costumes you can wear??
* Would you do it again?

Looking forward to hear what people think !!

Hi

You are going to love it!!!

The hi for us was the feeling the park has, it is different to during a normal day, you do feel kind of special.

Can't help you with the candy question, but i'm sure someone at Disney will be able to help.

The only thing they say about costumes from what i can remember is that they don't like you to wear masks or anything offensive.

You also get to meet a lot of different characters than normal along the candy trails, which is so much fun.

The castle show is great too, even after 2yrs i still have the main song whirling around in my head. Lots of Disney villans on show.

Don't know if you have children with you but they also had a dance area with Chip n Dale when we went so the children could boogie away.

The cast members are all in a v bright outfit which is really colourful and the fireworks and parade were fab. Even had Cindrella's carriage on display.

Lots of fun, so much so we splashed out and went a second time during our stay.

Hope you have a ball!!

* What was the highlight of your party? The atmosphere is so different. MK becomes a different park and being able to get onto rides without ridiculously long lines was great. Our highight was the Boo to You parade, although we had a blast with Trick or Treat!!
* Do you know if they offer candy for children with allergies? Yes, they do. If you stop in at guest services before the party (or any time during but I think this eats time out of your party night) they will tell you how to collect the allergen free candy. However this will be collected in a pack from a specified location so the child won't be getting his/her candy from the usual trick or treat bins. If contact is not a problem, you could still allow that child to help collect for the family. They also have boxes of raisins on the trails which are in separate bins and never mixed with the regular candy
* Are there any rules on the costumes you can wear?? The usual Disney rules apply, such as being appropriately covered, no masks that cover the face and head entirely, and 'nothing too scary' - the latter leaves a lot open to personal interpretation however.
* Would you do it again? Oh yes - going again this year - possibly doing 2 party nights

Louise x

trying to get that part of my TR typed up Louise - it's the next installment. ;)

* What was the highlight of your party?
The special fireworks are amazinng try and get to the hub area for this. Also the whole atmosphere is just brilliant.

* Do you know if they offer candy for children with allergies?
Sorry I can't help there but you could always email Disney and ask.

* Are there any rules on the costumes you can wear??
Most of the pps have said already but also try not to wear any that would be too scary for young children remember is Mickeys not so Scary not the Haloween horror night at Universal. Saw loads of people dressed up of all ages from basic costumes to a family dressed up in the most beautiful home made Cinderella, prince and Fairy Godmother i have ever seen.

* Would you do it again?
YES going for the 3rd time this year.

* What was the highlight of your party?
The parade and fireworks - the fireworks are all around the park.
* Do you know if they offer candy for children with allergies?
Yes but I think you have to go to guest services to collect. There was a bit on the Dis Unplugged podcast about it last year.
* Are there any rules on the costumes you can wear??
Nothing offensive and used to be no masks.
* Would you do it again?
YES! This will be our 3rd time in October.

we loved it! we are going to try and get tickets for 31st oct this year for our second visit

we didnt dress up but i have heard this is the only time adults can go in disney fancy dress

not sure about the candy we just had loads of it!!

our fav moment was the fireworks and the headless horseman on the parade

The highlights for our trip:
Getting a photo with Grumpy
Getting a photo with 7 dwarfs
The chance to get a photo in front of Cinderellas carriage was a welcome surprise
The special ghost effects on the photopass
The parade
Being stopped and asked for photos :goodvibes

Others have already covered the allergies question, but I do seem to remember one pretty young girl getting an apple from an elderly looking CM. It must have been a long line though as she fell asleep almost straight away :confused3

Again lots of people have covered this but what I will say is that the rules didn't seem to be enforced that much on the night we were there. There were plenty of people with full face masks and we did see a couple of very scary costumes.

We would do it again but to be honest if we had to chose between MNSSHP or Universal HHN we would do HHN - but I know that isn't an option for you guys.

Hi
We love MNSSHP and has been one of the highlights of our trip for both October trips.

* What was the highlight of your party?
The fireworks are amazing, but we also loved the parade last time as well. Riding BTRM over and over in the dark because there was no line. Waiting in a line of small sleepy Tinkerbells and their parents for a late night trip on Peter Pan. Getting on the bus with two jedi kinights and no-one batting an eyelid

* Do you know if they offer candy for children with allergies?
Not sure. I know my DD happily collects candy. There were a few with peanuts if that is a problem.

* Are there any rules on the costumes you can wear??
Masks and offensive stuff is out. Otherwise loads of adults and children dress up. We didn't the first time - just DD, but pester power got us into costume in 2009 and it was a huge laugh.

* Would you do it again?
Yes - we're planning on going during our trip in October, possibly twice.

At the risk of starting controversy here... There doesn't seem to be an official masks rule. It isn't stated on the Disney website when you buy tickets or on the tickets.
We've been to 2 Halloween parties now and there were people with full face masks, also seen this on several photos (including two guys who went as Waldorf and Statler, using huge styrofoam heads). Seen plenty of people dressed as Batman or Spiderman with masks.
At the last party we went to, there was someone dressed as a Pirates of the Caribbean character from the Dutchman crew looking completely like this guy http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20060828201330/pirates/images/8/89/Maccus_maquette.jpg. And there were some other properly scary costumes too.

And the Halloween party at Universal doesn't allow any costumes actually.

I think you are right in that it is an 'unofficial rule' but it has been stated verbally by CMs when the question has been asked, which leads me to believe that they have kept it like this as a percieved rule, rather than an actual one, to keep an opt out for them in case there are any issues they feel need to be addressed in that regard. I would think that this is likely to be waived almost entirely for young children and they simply wish not to recreate HNN in the MK, if that makes any sense. Pure speculation on my part, I have to add.

It would be nice if there was some form of consistency though. I've heard of people that were let into the park with a Batman or Spiderman (or whatever) mask on and were later on during the party told by another CM that they should remove it as it's against the rules (even young children). If the CM at the entrance deemed it to be OK, then that should stand.
I can understand it's not easy not always to decide on what is offensive and what it is not as it differs from person to person and culture to culture. But I fail to see the reasoning behind the no masks in general rule. You can do extremely scary things with some make up and liquid latex, whereas some masks are as harmless as possible and just add to the fun of a costume.
I do agree that there should be some kind of limitation, it is still Disney. For example, I don't think that Pinhead from Hellraiser is exactly a good costume choice for a MNSSHP.

This is all I could find on the Disney website

Guests, especially children, are invited to wear costumes. However, guests are asked to choose costumes that are not obstructive to the child's view or that may be offensive to other park guests.
Face painting is available for children in Toontown. It is located across from Pete's Garage. This face painting station is always here, but there's no charge during the Party! Keep in mind that this is popular and there may be a long wait.

But as has already been said that can come down to interpretation

Hi Louise -we have been three times now and just debating whether to go this trip or not but we probably will.

Highlight of the party for DH and me is the parade and fireworks
DD likes the trick or treating and seeing how much candy she can collect (leaving me to worry about how to get it home again :) ) She also loves having her photo taken with the special characters like all the 7 dwarves or in front of Cinderella's carriage with the pumpkin display
DS loves the headless horseman.

Never seen candy for allergy sufferers but they hand out small boxes of raisins at each candy stop.

Costumes as already said.

You can usually get in at 4pm on the tickets. You must claim a good spot for the first parade or risk not seeing it. The rides get very busy nnear halloween but were nearly empty the year we went and it was two weeks before halloween. The same is true for the character photos.

personally we wouldn't go the couple of nights before Halloween again just too crowded but would go earlier in the season.

I see the park hours are out for September, if that helps anyone plan. ;)

http://www.disneytravelagents.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/ParkHours/WDW_Operating_Calendar_Sept.pdf

Chocolate Minnie, allergy candy is not handed out with the regular loot. It has to be arranged and collected separately as certain allergies, for example severe nut and seed allergies, cross contamination can be lethal. I seem to think you need to do it through the Special Diets team in advance if possible, but it can be arranged at Guest services. The candy is collected separately and taken around the park.

We absolutly LOVE MNSSHP, dressing up was great. We will be going as dalmations again this year, but there will be 10 of us.

The best thing was the character interaction, cruella was fab, she even came up to us in the parade. All the CM's made such a fuss of us and the kids loved barking at them:rotfl:

We had loads of candy, but to be honest we didn't even eat half of it!!!!

The Boo to you parade was great....the hole atmosphear was brilll...can't wait to go again:thumbsup2
