Tell me about miniature golf :)

I had no idea there was a distinction between the two words.

How do I know? Well gather 'round the campfire for a story... Ok - so many years ago when it was my ninth birthday I wanted to play "miniature golf" with my grandmother. Now, to me, that meant the local putt-putt golf course with a series of putting holes with bumpers and hills and one with a paddle wheel that would kick your ball back. I had also been to a nicer place up by my other grandmother's house in Pennsylvania which was a mom and pop place that had more ornate putting holes with windmills and castles and such. So my grandmother is a big golfer and she tells me she knows of this other miniature golf place in town called Rustic Gardens and I figure it might be like my other grandmother's place and agree to check it out.

It's, truly, a "miniature golf" course with each hole being about 10 yards complete with fairways, and hazards. It was fun but it wasn't quite what I had wanted to do that day. (The holes were way above my skill level!)

I live in Indianapolis too! I went to Rustic Gardens with my hubby when we were dating...same problem. I said miniature golf but really meant putt-putt. Let's just say, we still laugh about it. Golf is not my strong suit!

Mini Golf at Disney has become one of our favorite things to do Winter Summerland is my favorite, just because I love the theming. Fantasia is great, but it is very challenging. I've never waited a super long time at WinterSummerland, but last time we played Fantasia during Spring Break one year, there was quite a wait-maybe 45 minutes. I'd suggest going early and during a weekday, when everyone else is in a park.

Not to be a stickler, but all of the courses you are describing fall under the "miniature golf" umbrella. "Putt-Putt" is an actual name brand of a chain of miniature golf courses. Not that I care at all; just wanted to clarify

As for WDW's mini golf courses, I've never played them but they look great! As a veteran mini golfer, I'm looking forward to the Fairways course at Fantasia Gardens though.

As for WDW's mini golf courses, I've never played them but they look great! As a veteran mini golfer, I'm looking forward to the Fairways course at Fantasia Gardens though.

Its a lil tricky...Mark my word.....I remember playing it way back when I just got The other one there as well as Winter Summerland are more traditional style Mini golf....

Right "Putt Putt" is a trademark but there are real differences between "miniature golf" which is just a set of fancy putting holes and "miniature golf" which is an actual "miniaturized golf course". Putt-Putt just formalized the former.

Winter Summerland was great! I was very disappointed by Fantasia Gardens. The course was either a. all torn up which made it hard to putt or b. the holes were so hard we had to throw our balls in the holes to get to the next "section." The location is much more convenient, but in my mind not worth it for the experience if you have the time to venture to Winter Summerland.

So we decided on Winter Summerland and the kids loved it! They want to make it a permanent part of our arrival day traditions. The course was super cute and easy enough for my 12 & 14 year old but a little challenging for my 5 year but we didn't keep score for him.
