My husband and I are desperate for a trip and unfortunately Disapalooza's time frame doesn't work for us :sad1:

So we are considering May or possibly Late January/Early February...but does anything interesting happen during Jan/Feb or is this just simply down time when the rides are going through refurbishment as they end the winter holidays and prepare for March and the spring break crowds? Do they ever release deals during this time?

We would avoid the weekends around president's day obviously, but is there anything we should know about (good or bad) when considering this time of year? It seems like I never hear much about these months...

This is when the "townies" come out to play.

The weather is cooler...if not downright chilly and the parks are empty.

Sssshhhhh!!!!

Dont tell people about this time of year.

It's our little secret.

Hmm, sounds great! Surprisingly we like chilly since it's already hot enough in California. So the secret is out, townies come out in Jan/Feb...I had heard townies only come out during full moons. ;)

We've been down several times in late Jan, early Feb. It's actually our favorite time to go. Low waits, cheaper (usually), and the weather is perfect for us. We are from Minnesota and the temperature is right around 15 - 20 below zero when we leave, so the 70 - 75 degree days are GREAT! The only downside to us is the packing. The temperature is a little unpredictable, so you have to pack everything. We've spent the first half of our trip wearing long pants and sweatshirts because it was in the 30's in the mornings (still MUCH warmer than at home, so no need for jackets for us), and the second half of the trip swimming in the pools and going to the waterparks because it's in the high 70's or low 80's. Other than that, it's a great time to go. But, like Kevin said . . . don't tell anyone (even though I'm not a "townie")!

We have been the last 4 years at this time and plan on going again in Jan/Feb 10, like previously stated low wait times, great weather (much better than Ontario Canada weather at that time of year ) low crowds, easier to get great ADR's, cheaper rates......hold on...I don't think you would like it.;)

Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone else.
Now all we need is a party at that time of year.:thumbsup2

We love that time of year.
Some things to be ready for: shorter park hours & lots of refurbs (splash mountain is down nearly every January it seems).

I'm from Salt Lake City, UT. We had the Winter Olympics in 2002, which shows that we have winter (I remember going to the dress rehearsal for the opening ceremonies in February and it was about 6*).

We have taken trips in January/February and think it's the perfect time. Part to get away from the cold for a week or two, and part because the parks are empty and enjoyable. Sure, the Kali River Rapids might not be the greatest idea, and only one water park may be open. But it's a great time to visit.

And as stated before, it's a little bit cheaper that time of year, usually.

Hope to see you there in 2010 (but you might miss the Vancouver Olympics)!

How bad is MLK weekend? My kids have a long weekend and I can snag some good flight deals right now but I am worried about it being crazy.

Anne- we did MLK weekend a couple years ago and it wasn't bad at all. We have a bunch of half days, teacher inservice days and then the MLK holiday so that's the perfect time for us to go. I will say it rained (Poured) 2 evenings and the mornings were chilly. But nowhere near what it was like back home in MD.

You are making this very tempting - we have a 1/2 day Friday and no school Monday and Tuesday.

What to do...

We have a trip in October, I go again in December, is January too soon???
