Tell me about Grinchmas....

They are still planning on doing pictures with the Grinch but where, I don't know. Grinchmas show just never attracted the crowds that they expected. They are planning some new things.

The past two times I've been and just this past Christmas....the crowds were huge! Thisjust plain sucks. My little boy will be devasted. He loved having his picture done and interacting with all the CM's. I'm glad I video taped the whole show :confused3 :furious: :confused3

They'll still have the characters and picture taking with Grinch--just not the play and storytelling.

The area that they had it in, I just never thought it was that great. Unless you got there really early you couldn't really see the show very well, and they always quit the show no matter if they were in the middle of it or not when it started raining. Also because of where it was held at, it made passing by that area into the Lost Continent almost impossible when the show was happening.

When do they start decorating for this? We will be there Thanksgiving day, friday and saturday...im trying to squeeze info out of anyone...please tell me if US and IOA will be decorated when we get there?!?!?!?

Well Mt crumpit was there last year it was just not open, hidden behind a wall until this past year it was finally torn down when they fixed up the land for the trolly ride. You might also want to know that not only will there not be the show and tree but also NO decor through out the land, so no more grinchmas, so dont be too surprised to see nothing christmas ( I mean dec. 25 holiday as it is refered to on official UO stuff) related in IOA. But Macys is coming and will be there a week into december. The grinch will be there for photo ops but thats all for the grinch, nothing like what we saw the past 5 years.

The Grinch for photo ops, big deal! This is a huge decline from past years and that is very disappointing.

Why would they choose to not decorate the Island at all? :confused3

That is not correct. It will still be decorated and the whoville characters will still be roaming about. There wil also be a photo op with the Grinch. The only thing to change is the storytelling and play.

The parks have to be decorated for Christmas. The parks look awesome during that time. I'm bummed that they're doing away with the show and storytelling but hopefully they'll come up with something.

The idea that they will not hold Grinchmas at all is completely inaccurate. Not a good first impression. :badpc:

i noticed that too....first post..... :scratchin

There wasn't too much more to Grinchmas besides the storytelling and play...

Maybe a holiday layover of High In The Sky? That'd be a good idea..

When it comes to UO info, I tend to believe phantom.....sorry universalwdwguy......you're new here (with welcomes!), but we don't know your "credibility" whereas, phantom is extremely credible! Like you said, "we'll see"......

no offense, but I'll take the word of phamton who heard it specifically from Mr. G's own mouth.

Just wondering if anyone knows:
1. what day in January are the Christmas decorations taken down?
2. What are the crowds like vs. Disney the first week of January?

Thank you

I did a search for Grinchmas and found this thread. I'm really sorry to hear about the changes. DH is a huge "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" fan (which is kind of funny, because I never liked it even as a kid). I'm finally getting him down there at Christmas, and now some of the best parts are gone. I know we'll enjoy our trip anyway, but I would have liked to have all of it...

I can only answer #2... USF & IOA are not that crowded. I went one year 2001 & we got on every ride three times more or less.
