This is the last weekend of the summer. For Americans, we have Labor Day on Monday which is the end of summer and the start of autumn. Technically, the last day of summer is September 22nd, but I think most of us agree that August 31st is the last day of summer. To celebrate the end of summer and the start of autumn, many of us go to a BBQ. We’re either hosting one or a guest to one. How about you? Are you going to one? Give us your BBQey good answer today…..

Are you going to a BBQ this weekend or on Labor Day?
If yes…..are you a host or a guest?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I’m going to my own private BBQ with my DH at home. I’m grilling steaks, making twice baked potatoes and some corn on the cob. We’re not doing anything with other people. This weekend we’re working in the yard and my DH has to work on Labor Day. My little BBQ will be on Labor Day after my DH gets home from work, which will luckily be home by 4pm.

We always have a BBQ sometime during Labor Day weekend. This year it will be Monday. Just the family, the 7 of us. They are here almost every weekend during pool season anyway.
But for us it is not the end of summer.....we are still very hot.

We'll be grilling hamburgers. Having corn on the cob, watermelon, veggie tray (maybe a fruit tray too), chips and brownies for dessert......and pool time.

🌭🍔 🥗 and baked beans are on the menu this weekend. Freshly made lemonade and a pie 🥧 as well 😋.

Hosting and attending. Sunday, our lake neighborhood has a big Labor Day celebration. It starts with a kids’ cardboard boat race in our canal and ends with a big cookout at one of our neighbors houses - they even bring in entertainment.

On Monday, our neighbors from our other house are coming up here to celebrate Labor Day. I’m smoking brisket, cooking ribs and grilling as well.

It’s not something I’ve ever known to be celebrated here, although Labor Day is a federal holiday. It’s kind of celebratory for me though - it generally marks the end of the absolutely frantic and exhausting summer months of having to manage vacation relief staffing at work. :faint:

I'm helping to host a cookout at the shelter this weekend for the workers, volunteers and the animals. It'll be a fun get together for sure. I'm not sure that it's really labor day themed or anything but we take it as a chance to all get together and have fun. The animals all love the extra companionship and attention they get with all of us there, so that's a win all by itself. :)

We will grill food for ourselves. Hot dogs and veggie brats. Does that mean we're having a private BBQ? If so, we have a BBQ a couple of times a week, so it's not something unusual for the holiday weekend.

For many years, I spent LD on Eastern Pkwy, in Brooklyn with all the other West Indians and wannabes. Over time things changed and I’d attend a cookout at elder sister’s. That lasted for about 15 years and good thoughts remain for all the celebrating.
This year it’s time to make new traditions.
Maybe I’ll hangout on a friend’s community roof garden. Or maybe, chilling in Central Park is the answer.
Shock and surprise, I won’t be cooking. Going to order bbq takeout and bring it with me. Okay okay I’ll make potato salad since I don’t much care for anyone’s besides Stew Leonard’s and that’s too far away. Soo picky! 🤣

We MAY grill here but if so, it will just be the three of us. Sometimes we're together with softball people for practice on this one. So far, no plans for that but it could still happen. While I enjoy the day off, Labor Day doesn't feel like the end of summer here since the kids go back to school several weeks before the holiday.

We are going to my sister-in-law's lake house on Sunday. Unfortunately, it might be a little too cold to swim. But we'll have fun, anyway.

Labour Day weekend is the crazy traffic day . People going to cottages, camping or just getting ready for back to school on Tuesday.

My plans are up in the air for the weekend -the weather looks great so maybe a beach day. I know one evening I’ll end up here for a “Labor Day Weekend Show”… if you know, you know 🦜! Site of Jimmy Buffett’s final performance….

Fins Up!

We will be running a concessions stand at a dog frisbee tournament, so no plans outside of that. We also grill year round, even in snow, so no plans for ”special” bbq plans.

I’ll probably make a hamburger for dinner on Monday. I’ve been on a low FODMAP diet so no bun nor most of the other typical BBQ foods. Oh and the burger will be pan fried not BBQ’d/grilled.

No BBQ's for us that I'm aware of, and mostly not sure if we have plans. I know we're going out to dinner with Natalie and her 2 boys on Sunday afternoon. I know I'll be watching the big NHRA races from Indianapolis on Sunday and Monday. I used to go to those races every year but have not for several recent years now.

Hope everyone has a great, well-deserved holiday weekend.

We're headed to a little church festival that has a chicken dinner. We've been going to this dinner since I was a kid, now my granddaughter is going, that's four generations that has been going from our family. This church isn't even in my state!

No BBQ but will be at a baseball game on Sunday and hopefully the state fair on Monday if the weather cooperates so will be having a lot of good food.
