AT&T GoPhone was a little complicated to think about at first. I have 2 Android phones.
First off, accounts are individual, so if you want multiple phones, each will have it's own account.
You upload money to the AT&T account. The amount expires depending on how much you upload.
- $15 - 30 days
$25 - 90 days
$50 - 90 days
$60 - 90 days
$75 - 90 days
$100 - 365 days
Next is the features (call, text, data)
- The unlimited plan talk, text, and data for $50
$25 gives you 250 minutes and unlimited text, no data
$2 daily gives you unlimited talk and text for the day, pay $2 only on the day you use it.
$0.10 per minute gives you, obviously, $0.10/minute of talk.
Without going unlimited, you need to select a text and data package. These roll over when you continue before the due date of the next month on both text and data.
Texts
- 200 texts - $4.99
1000 texts - $9.99
unlimited texts - $19.99
Data
- 10mb - $5
100mb - $15
500mb - $25
I don't know what the maximum texts are that can be rolled over each month, but I know you have a maximum of 1.5gb of data.
We don't use data as we are on wireless at home and I am on wireless at work. My wife doesn't have the chance to be on her phone at work. We have a switch on the home screen to turn data off, but it is available if we need it when out and about. We also don't ever make phone calls on cell (about 3 calls per year in "emergency" situations.) My wife uses about 700 texts and I use about 300 texts per month.
I initially uploaded 500mb of data on each phone for $25 and 1000 texts for $10 each. I add 10mb data for $5 to keep the data rolling over and 200 texts for $5. About every 2 months, I put the 1000 texts on my wife's phone and 1000 on mine about every 4 months. I will pay about 2 month's cost of a 2 Android phone contract for the entire year. I uploaded $25 in February to each account and another $15 last night. So far, I've got a total of $180 uploaded in the last 5 months including the initial top-off of data. After buying my packages, I have $25 left combined on the accounts, so I've spent $155 from December through May.
