Downtown Disney Hilton

We are planning to stay here for our trip in December. If any of you have stayed here, what did you think?

How did you find the transportation to the parks and back to the hotel?

How were the restaurants, especially for breakfast. I was also told they have a character breakfast on Sundays...anyone attend this?

Thanks for any help and info you provide.:)

The times that I have stayed here have only been one night jaunts before checking in on Disney property. I haven't really used the busses as I usually go shopping at DTD the first day and this hotel is directly across the street from DTD. I have eaten breakfast at the deli restaurant and you can buy you basic breakfast in there (they also sell Crispy Creme donuts). Prices are what you generally expect in the Disney area. The pool area is nice and I've never seen a lot of people swimming in the pools.

Last Nov. I had a room on the 7th floor. Room looked as though it was recently redone and in great shape. As you opened the door, the bathroom was directly to your right. The sink/mirror and coffeemaker are right there outside the bathroom. Directly opposite of the sink is the closet (nice size with various levels to hang different lengths of clothing). The ironing board/iron are in the closest with the safe (should be able to fit a lap top in it). Bathroom was a good size (not the type where you can barely close the door) and plenty of towels were left on a shelf at the top of the tub/shower area. There were two double beds, desk/table and two chairs (one desk chair and one regular chair) and a long dresser with 25" tv and refrigerator. There is a pricelist for all things kept in the part of the dresser with refrigerator (cashew's were $7.00, soft drinks same as Disney and other things as well).

I like the hotel and find it appropriate for a night's stay. However, this last stay on the 7th floor created a problem in that the main door was cut 1/2" short of the floor. You can hear everything around you and see shadows of the people passing as you have that gap. I took the bathroom mat and a towel and shoved it to block out the noise from that gap as I had a neighbor with an infant (across the hallway) that cried for quite some time (but trust me the noise did continue to make it through). In fact all of my neighbors had children and pretty much kept coming and going from the rooms. That was the only problem that I had, the noise coming in from under the door. I did notice that everyone else had the same problem I did with the door but don't recall if the rest of the hotel has this problem. It did get quiet around 10:00 that night.

IMO I wouldn't mind another short stay there (1 or 2 nights max) but don't think I would enjoy a week there as there was a lot of traffic on my floor and the noise from the door being cut to short.

yecats- thanks for the reply with a detailed decription. It really helps to know that the rooms were in great shape, various meal options availabe, etc. I'm concerned about the noise level because we would stay one week. We usually do not get in until about 9 or 10, so maybe I can hope for the best.

I really wonder about the transportation. We have always stayed on property and used the transportation provided, so I do not know what to expect.

Thank you for your help.:wave2:

I have stayed at this hotel on 2 seperate occasions. Both visits have been a week in length and with my children, 2 boys and my husband.

The proximity to DD is ideal! I did not use the transportation to the parks, but found it to be a quick drive. The only restaurant that we ate at was the Tradewinds for breakfast. (I think that was the name!) We bought coffee, dougnuts or ice cream at night in the little deli/store. We had drinks by the pool swim up bar as well.

The first visit we had a very nice room, adequate for 4, and it was very clean and very quiet. The second visit we had a room overlooking DD and we were able to see Epcot fireworks way in the distance as well as PI's fireworks close up, every evening. This room was clean, but a little run down, maybe one of the rooms that weren't renovated yet. We stayed in 2002 and 2003. We always received a great rate through Priceline, but, even checking their website rates, they are not extremely high.

There are 2 pools, 1 kiddie pool, and 1 hot tub. They have floats to rent at poolside.

We would definitely stay here again.

Correction, there is a bar by the pool, not a swim-up pool bar. I guess I should reread before I send.

We were able to stay for a few nights at this Hilton in adjoining rooms, we thought it was very comfortable. Because we were there only to visit WDW shortly and the girls sister who was in the NICU, we did not use the pool, but we did use the bus and found it to be ok, and the deli was ok, the salad was pretty good and BIG, I think it ran like $5.00. The rooms were very clean that we had and we would stay there again. The staff was very nice as well.

thank you for your reply. It helps to know that you both would return and the noise level was not an issue. I hope we get a view of the fireworks, that would be nice to see at the end of our day.
