Hi all! Every trip to Disney that we have taken so far has always been during the first week of December. Since my oldest son is now in school, I don't want to take him out of school for a week. Can anyone tell me about the heat? How bad is it? How are crowds during this time? We are wanting to go either the first or second week of June. Also, we would like to do the water parks, Blizzard Beach and or Typhoon lagoon. Typically, how bad are the crowds at the water parks in June! Thanks for your help!

The first week of June might not be too bad because a lot of schools aren't out yet. We have gone the last week of June a few times. It is hot, humid and rains for a little bit everyday. The parks are pretty full with grouchy, hot parents and overtired, hot kids. The waterparks fill to capacity and are closed. I have heard that early June is not as bad but definitely go as early as you can.

We went last year the second week of June because we didn't want to take our DD out of school either. I will say it was very HOT and HUMID!! we were told it was hotter and more humid than normal. The crowds got worse later in the week but were still very manageable. We used a good touring plan and didn't wait in long lines, we got up every morning and were at each park at rope drop and did everything we wanted before the afternoon. We did take breaks every afternoon to go to the pool and relax. There was rain in the afternoons but only short storms that didn't bother us, we just on our ponchos and kept going. My DH did get heat exhaustion, so I recommend lots of fluids, I kept telling him to drink and he said he was fine. We had a great time and were glad we went, my DH and DD are huge Star Wars fans and they LOVED Star Wars weekends. We went to Blizzard Beach one day and it was not too crowed early in the day. We did go when they opened and stayed until mid afternoon - it did get very busy by the time we left and at that point people were searching for seats. But in the morning there were very little lines - I think the longest we waited for any slide was 10 minutes. Have a wonderful trip!

We're going the last week in June this year - we are going with my cousin & her bf who are both teachers and couldn't go any earlier. The last time I went in June was 9 years ago, so I don't remember much except that it was hot. I'm most worried about the crowds. The last 2 years we went in April & March and had practically no line waits.

june is our month.try to go early in june.this year we will be there the 13th threw 19.try to get started early we have just started leaving our teen in the room in the morning .if it was up to him we would get to the parks around noonish.the heat is kind of rough but it also helps if you get started early.
take it easy pace yourself.
we have been at other times but june is probly our fav.it just about has to be with dw a teacher.

This will be our 4th trip in 5 years. All in June. We are both teachers and leave as soon as school is out. It is hot! However, with a good touring plan, we have not had trouble with crowds.

Yes, it rains most days. This doesn't bother us. We carry ponchos.

We are always there when the park opens and take a break at the hottest time of the day. Then head back for dinner. We do the dinning plan and like eating one table service meal a day. This provides time out of the sun and time to sit for awhile in the air conditioning.

We are all volunteering this year, so we can get the FP. We are hoping this keeps the waiting in line down, so we have more time to relax and not get overheated.

WATER! WATER! WATER! that is the key. We stay hydrated. Last June was by far the hottest. They had record breaking temps. We felt fine and had a great time.

I hope this helps.

We were there the first week of June last year. It is starting to get busy then but very managable. It starts to get hot, think high 80's, and rain in the afternoon. The further into June the crazier and hotter it gets. Drink lots of water, stop in a/c spots and shade, early am is the best or late evenings for the parks. Gay Days is the first weekend so you may see a few more people in the selected park and plan around that for any adr's and such.

We went the first week of June last year....it was just about perfect! It was warm, but we swam every afternoon and even enjoyed some rainy afternoons in the parks. The crowds were quite manageable....we did a TS daily and the restaurants were right on time and not crowded which was nice. The restaurants were also FREEZING!!!

We went the 3rd week of June last yr and it was miserably unbearably hot...even at the extra magic hours at 8 am or 10 pm. I wont do that again. We are able to get 2 or 3 days excused for our kids for an educational trip so I always match that up w/ a teach work day and a weekend and we go then. This year we are thinking about the days they are out of school prior to Christmas / Christmas Eve. Good luck...

Since your son is only 5, I assume he is K or 1st grade. I would talk to his teacher about pulling him out for a few days. Im sure she would say it is no problem. We have times during the year that the kids are off for 2 days in a row for teacher work day/conference. We have used that to our advantage and pulled ours out for 3 days and took off to Disney.
We have always pulled our kids out (even our dd in 12th grade) and they have never had a problem. Our oldest is in college now, so we have to go on her breaks. We just pull the other 2 out when oldest is out.
I realize that pulling them out is a touchy subject- just wanted to point out that you may actually have a few more options than summer, depending on your school calendar. K and 1st grade work is very simple to take and review with your ds on the plane/car ride down.
