We have decided to eat at Kona Cafe the evening that we go to the MK. Please tell me all about it. The menu looked wonderful. We always try a new restaurant every trip, and this is it!

Thanks:)

Well, it really is very good. I suggest the chicken! And Oy! the desserts!!

I STRONGLY suggest a PS, even in slow times, as this is a VERY popular restaurant. Expect to wait up to half an hour, even with a PS. They will give you one of those beeper/flasher things though, so you can wander around the Polynesian lobby while you are waiting.

It's casual, the same clothes you ahd on for the theme parks are fine for dinner there.

Thanks Anne! I did my PS through Dreams Unlimited, so I have to see what they come up with... we figured we'd ask for 6 pm, since the MK doesn't close until 7 that night.

I figure if we have to wait, we can go to the Tambu Lounge and wait it out!

Thanks again!

After so many trips to the Poly and breakfasts at Kona we finally tried it for dinner about a year ago. A new must do for us. I love the mahi mahi. The vegetables that are served with it are wonderful. My family has also enjoyed the prime rib and tuna although my daughter didn't care for the sauce with the tuna. She likes it medium rare and plain. Next time we'll order it without the sauce. DS orders the kid's cheeseburger which he loves. It does look good, not preformed.

One word YUMMY!!! This is one of the best places to eat in WDW in my opinion. Also, it's VERY casual, another reason I like it so much!! It was mobbed there on the night we ate, and we didn't have a PS, but arrived at 5:30, so no problem getting seated. Enjoy, you definately will!!

One other nice thing about Kona for dinner is that the quality of the food is akin to much more expensive restaurants like Naarcoosse's, Citrico and Jiko. Most entrees at Kona are a little less than $20 as compared to a little less than $30 at those spots. Of course the atmosphere is more like a busy family restaurant but hey...the food is great!

We did dinner at the Kona Cafe for the first time in Sept.
It was great. We had PS and pretty much walked right in.
The food was wonderful, I had some sort of beef and hubby had a pasta. And Dessert.... Ymmmmm
They had a dragon carved out of chocolate on display.
What fun. Enjoy!

DH and I enjoyed lunch at Kona so much, that trying it for dinner was a priority!

If you go, don't forget about the appetizers! They are incredible - the primary reason we returned. The crab cakes, the stickey wings, the pot stickers - all are amazing!!!!!

Our dinners were equally as good - I had a shrimp and scallop dish and DH had the rare ahi.

Don't forget about dessert! You can't help but see them on the way in - my favorite is the Kilahuea Torte and the KoKo Puffs!

How crowded is it in the later hours, for example if we went for dessert only? Perhaps we should get a PS anyway so we'd be allowed to park at the Poly for a bit (this would be on a Saturday evening).

TIA! :)

10 big thumbs up for dinner at the Kona from my group of 4 friends and I that ate there in January. Everyone's meal was delicious.

2 of us had the Pan Asian Pasta--YUMMM! 2 of the girls had the Spring Rolls--YUMMM! and one of the girld had the teriyaki steak--also YUMMM (and I am NOT a teriyaki fan). IMO, you can't go wrong at the Kona.

Especially on weekends and during busy times iti stays busy right up until about 9:30 or so. If you wanted to get a PS for after 9:00pm there shouldn't be too much of a problem with parking--it's just before 9:00 that there are issues, because of people wanting to park there and take the monorail to the MK.

We love Kona and are returning for dinner in June. DS loves the restaurant and especially the desserts, you can watch the pastry chef make your dessert! He had an outgrageous m&m sundae in a homemade waffle cone covered in chocolate and attached to the plate with chocolate. We had wonderful potstickers and wings for appetizers and I had salmon, DH had mahi mahi and DS had terriyaki steak..all were wonderful!

My fiance and I LOVE Kona Cafe...without a doubt it is our absolute favorite place to eat in all of WDW. The last time we were at WDW (October 02), we ate there three times...we had the same waitress each time and it was pretty funny, by the end of the trip she automatically knew what drinks we wanted! Our favorite entree is the Beef Teriyaki...it is soooo yummy. And I LOVE all of the breads they serve too! The sticky wings (an appetizer) are a favorite of ours too. PLUS their desserts are INCREDIBLE!! My stomach is growling just thinking about Kona Cafe :) We also love to stroll around the resort after our meal (gotta walk off some of those calories, lol)...it's gorgeous.

(Can you tell I love this place? LOL)

Well, just got the confirmation back from Dreams Unlimited and we are all set for PS at Kona Cafe at 6 pm. Can't wait. I think while we are waiting for our table we will go to the Tambu Lounge and get a drink.
