Tell me about dining plans..is it worth it for us? Can we do only 1 meal a day dining plan?

We have pretty restrictive diets, eat very clean, will eat breakfast in suite and bring lunch ..and don't anticipate getting snacks in park, but at the same time I'd like to eat dinner out in the evening, or maybe have the option for lunch one day if healthier option restaurants? Do you think the dining plan would still be worth it for us with all these considerations?

well considering that the regular DP is one TS, one CS and one snack pp per night and you don't eat snacks and will eat breakfast in your room and bring a lunch....is it worth $60+ per adult for 1 meal a day?

Eat OOP, it's cheaper for the way you dine :)

I would definitely do OOP rather than the dining plan. Especially with the way you eat. It wouldn't be worth it in the long run and you would lose money paying for the dining plan rather than save money, unless you don't care and just want to pay for everything upfront. That would be the only reason to do the dining plan in your case. But as previous poster stated its cheaper to just pay OOP for your food rather than the dining plan.

Ok thanks, if they offer clean snacks.. maybe. apples..fruits.. I could probably get them a TUrkey leg at the park if that is considered part of the "plan".. I just mean I don't know if we would be eating out at every meal. For us, we like eggs and fruit /veggies for breakfast.. I'm assuming I can't find that most places. ?

check out the menu's at allearsnet.com and see what restaurants have to offer as well as the prices. Yes, buffets are included in the plan

Most of the buffets we have been to have eggs and fruit and veggies for breakfast. I know a lot of people don't like buffets but I find we eat better at the buffets than regular sit down meals bc the buffets have more to offer than some of the other places specially if you have picky eaters like I do, lol. We try and do more buffets than sit down meals. As for snacks it varies from place to place. Some places do have turkey legs that Ive seen but we've never gotten them bc no one in my family eats them so I am not sure if they are considered snacks or not. When you get down to Disney they have this little symbol next to their snacks to let you know they are covered under the Disney Plan. We've never gone hungry at Disney thats for sure, lol...they offer a lot of food and most places accept the dining plan.

There are, actually, lots of places where you can get fruit. But I don't think it'd be a good idea to spend a snack credit (worth approximately $5) on an apple or banana.

Based on the way you eat, you'll come out way ahead without using the dining plan.

The regular plan is $60 per day.
A quick service meal is around $20 ($10-15 entree, $4 dessert, $3 drink).
A snack is around $4-5. But some such as whole fruit are cheaper.
A table service meal is around $30-$40 ($20-30 entree, $6 dessert $4 drink) or $30-$40 for a buffet.

Even at these rough prices you only just break even ($20+$5+$35=$60).
If you wouldn't normally eat a $5 ice cream sundae as a snack or a $4 slushie as a snack and if you wouldn't have that much dessert or you often want salad instead of steak at dinner then don't get the dining plan.

In short, unless you are picking from the more expensive options on the menu, you will not save money on the DDP.
