What exactly is Ding? I just downloaded the Southwest one to my desktop...do the updates pop up or do you have to actively click on them? Do other airlines have this as well?

There are updates that automatically come. If your volume is turned on, you'll actually hear a Ding sound. If you can't hear the sound, there will be a little envelope that appears on the Ding icon when there is a new update. So you don't have to constantly click on it.

I don't know if other airlines have similar programs. We pretty much exclusively fly SWA since we always get the best deals through them (and our destinations have always been on the SWA route), so I've never checked to see if other airlines do anything similar.

Most of the airlines have an email subscription update.

Haven't found anything that works for us, yet. Perhaps, someday...

An add-on question: Say I already have a purchased ticket, and then that same thing shows up on Ding. Can i call SWA and have the previously purchased ticket converted over to the Ding fare? Or do I ahve to cancel the ticket and then repurchase it thru Ding using the credit?

I would not wnat to chance that in case the Ding fare sells out before I could repurchase. I'm asking about this becasue I just downloaded Ding today, and the first message I got was showing RDU to Las Vegas for $85 each way. I currently have a ticket for $99 each way (the Ding fare was availaible at first for my same flight numbers), so saving a little bit of money would be great. Just checking, this particular flight combo was already sold out for the Ding fare, so it didn't matter this time. I was just curious in case it shows up again.

I had this happen with just a SWA sale (not a ding rate). SWA credited me for the savings. I remember some people on the DIS actually got the money to their credit cards but if i recall the official policy was a credit on swa so i was happy with that. the credit with swa was good for 1 year. in my case i save about $200 total on 3 tickets so that credit paid for a good part of a trip to LV that we took later in the year.

Do the updates happen in chronological order... Such as todays was Aug 4 as the latest... Will tomorrow be Aug 5 as the latest. or does it jump around
