We ate at Rose and Crown our last trip and I really liked the fish. Does the CS (can't think of the name at the moment) serve the same type of fish but in smaller portions?

Yes the fish and chips are the same kind they use in R&C and are vary good.

The fish served in both places is cod.

The portion at the CS has gotten rather remarkably smaller, and they've changed the chips (they are not thick-cut any longer).

My wife and I ate there three weeks ago, and although I agree that the fish portion has shrunk (previously 3, now 2), I believe the chips wer still thick cut.

I've seen photos from October and they were not. Maybe they've changed since October or it depends on what they have available at the time.

Just ate at the England CS fish & chips place in May for the first time. The fish and chips were very good.

Don't forget that DD has Cookes of Dublin. The portions are huge and they cook all the fish fresh to order. It is also on the dining plan.

Thought it was one of the most delicious pieces of fish however it was TINY! The combo was 2 pieces of fish with fries (chips) or Lays potato chips and a package of Walker's Shortbread cookies.

Hope this helps your decision. :)

:sad1:NOOOOOOOOOOOOO omgomgomgomgomg they can't change the chips!!!! That's the only reason I go there!

Can anyone comment on the available seating for this CS? Is it an area overlooking the water like the R&C restaurant?

Personally, I haven't dined at either location, but from what I've heard, the CS is FARRRRR better than the TS. The fish is hotter, fresher, etc.

the fish was excellent. i had a serving that happened to have rather thin pieces of fish so really, i had more batter than fish but my mom and dad had thicker more substantial pieces. we all enjoyed our food. and the chips were thick as well.

to my knowledge, there isnt any seating specifically for this cs. if you can grab a bench by the lakeside and hold your place while someone gets food for your party, that would most likely be your best bet. you can also go to the back of the uk area and sit on a bench by the garden.

Oh no, that's cheating! Skinny chips aren't British!

And you don't get Lays in the UK. But Walkers is real Scottish Shortbread - yum! ;)

There is a seating area to the back and right of where you order at the window. It's not a huge area, so it may be tough to find a seat, or you may share the table which we did 2 weeks ago. We had another couple from Boston ask to share the table with us, which we gladly agreed to. Had a wonderful conversation with them! The tables are a good size with umbrellas. As I recall, maybe there were 6-8 tables with about 4-6 chairs around them?

On many occasions, my wife and I have grabbed a table inside the pub (not the dining room). There are only a few, but it often works for us. We get drinks at the bar, then I go out to stand in line for the F&C. I have seen a few families who bring children in, but it's not the norm. Very rarely is it overly rowdy, but it can be loud and crowded (sensory overload). It's one of our favorite "adult" hangouts, and we have met and shared tables with many wonderful folks from near and far.

oooo, that sounds like a great idea! We will have to try that next time!
