My brother & I are thinking of surprising my parents with Cali Grill dinner during Wishes during one of the nights of our Thanksgiving trip.

Some questions....

-How is the sushi? I love tuna & California rolls, but am not adventureous beyond this. Would the deluxe platter not be a good choice for me?

-What time should we make the ADR's for to be able to catch the fireworks viewing?

-Which day would you recommend would be the least busy of the busy time we are going? We will be going Wed-Sun, but do not want to eat here during Thanksgiving night.

Thanks!:goodvibes

Hi,

We will be there around this time too - am thinking of booking it for thanksgiving possibly! We ate there last summer had fantastic meal (don't like sushi though so can't help on that one) but what we had was amazing!

In terms of fireworks we had a table for 7.30pm and as it was mid summer the fireworks were 10pm but you can go back to the balcony and watch the fireworks after your meal. If you would rather see them from your table then I would say book for an hour prior to the start of wishes - not sure what time that will be in nov though?

We love love LOVE California Grill! In my experience, it is best sushi I've ever had. I am posting a link for you to check out. It is a thread that contains lots of salava-enducing pictures of dishes served at CG. The guy who started the thread eats there often, and his latest pictures are from his meal there this month! Check it out:

Most of the people having dinner at CG want to watch Wishes. The staff at CG are very used to this, so they can accommodate quite nicely. Whatever time your ADR might be, just let your server know that you want to view "Wishes" from the observation area and they can time your courses accordingly. Last year, our reservations were for 7:20pm and Wishes was at 9pm. We completed our meal about 15 minutes before the fireworks, which was great! I think the ideal dinner time for a 9pm fireworks show would be 7:30pm or so.

We ate there on a Saturday night, but I imagine that Thanksgiving weekend will be crowded every single night.

Hope this helps!

If you're not done eating ...can you still go out on the deck & watch? Our reservations are at 8pm with Wishes at 9....I will keep trying to get a little earlier...but not luck just yet.

If we don't get a table by the window...can we just go out & watch & then come back in & say finish dessert?

Yes. Most tables do not have "great" views anyway so many diners leave their table to go out and then come back. Tell your server that you want to do this so that you do not have an entree getting cold or ice cream melting while you are out there.

Regarding sushi. We are big sushi eaters and we think Ca Grill has pretty good sushi.

Regarding the least busy night, I don't believe there is one. We have eaten at CG many times at all times of the year and the place has always been packed. If we are taking someone who wants to see fireworks (we usually book after fireworks as it's not important to us), I would book 90 min before the show. Last time we ate there, we were seated 50 min past our ADR time as they really back up getting close to fireworks time because people do not turn over the tables as quickly.
