We are planning to visit the Boardwalk area on this trip, during the early evening hours. I haven't been to the boardwalk in maybe 15 years and am not sure what to expect. Do you have any places to recommend or things to see/do? We will have my 19month old with us, so Jelly Rolls is probably not an option. That's the only place I remember from 15 years ago. :) TIA

1- We will have my 19month old with us, so Jelly Rolls is probably not an option.

1- Not an option, correct.
2- That's the hottest night spot.
Atlantic Dance never took off.

ESPN Club is a sports bar with dozens and dozens of TV's.

Not much action out ON the Boardwalk anymore (if ever there actually WAS much action.)

Occasionally there is a magician/juggler sort of person. Shopping in the store-which has the same merchandise as every other store. We still like to stay there and walk around at night, but we wouldn't go without staying there or someplace really close(like Beach Club).

So it looks like maybe it's just a spot to walk around and grab dinner?

Yes. But, it is very, very pretty! (Especially after dark.)

You might rent a surrey 4-wheel bike and pedal around the lake, if you're so inclined.

(And, yes, there are a couple of pretty good "inclines" around that lake.) ;)

Pretty much that's what it is!

I like to stay at one of the resorts there (Swan and Dolphin mostly since they're so much cheaper or free with my Starpoints) since it's a nice walk to Epcot.

They have some (overpriced) carnival games, a window where you can grab a slice of pizza, a hot dog cart, shops (yes, mostly the same stuff everywhere else has), a couple restaurants, the bakery, a candy/ice cream shop.

In the evening, there is frequently a musician or a really funny magician (or a mime I think). That's pretty much is - and they tend to stroll out, do their show and leave - don't know any sort of schedule. To us it's hit or miss - maybe catch one during a week long stay.

I'd say it is pretty though, so you can just walk over from the International Gateway at Epcot if you feel like it. Ate at Kouzzina once - I had a whole fish I liked, but the rest of the party didn't particularly care for it. Flying Fish - ate there once and had the worst meal ever (I think most folks like that place though, my fish was overcooked and came out cold though). The Big River Brew place is an okay place for a burger. ESPN zone - not my thing but it's there too.

If you're in the mood for sushi - the place at the Dolphin is really good. Only open for dinner.

You people are giving the boardwalk just a bad wrap.

Just walking and dinner? Just WALKING AND JUST DINNNER!!!! :furious: kidding but still.....

Boardwalk area is very cool I think and has quite a bit to offer the family for an evening / afternoon.

Schedule:
1) Arrive and rent a surrey bike (you sit down chair style) at the bike rental right in front of the dock
2) Peruse the store off to the right of the bike rental when looking from the dock
3) Head off to an early dinner at Cat's
4) Combo between walking down to the midway games / watching the boardwalk street performers (this piece can take up a lot of time, you likely can contact the boardwalk directly to get the schedule of performers and plan around that, but each one will likely take up 30 mins or so)

I think the people who underestimate the boardwalk have never watched the street performers or have seen them the couple times and forget about the first timers.

There is comedian/magicians/specialty trick performers/musicians/jugglers all to watch for free

Are you going to want to watch the street performers every night? No as they do repeat but watching them 1 time is very enjoyable and you can watch 2-4 a night if I remember correctly but we mostly caught the shows as we went off to dinner or came back from dinner each night.

I agree with Seth here. We love going to th Boardwalk area. There are a few carnival games to play, watch the "street" performers and we just like to walk around to the whole Boardwalk over to The beach Club side and circle around. Sometimes we stop on the beach at The Beach Club for a sit and look across to the Boardwalk. We don't usually stop and eat a TS meal, but we will but something from the "street vendor" or go into the Bakery or ice cream place for a treat. Go into the Lobby of the Boadrwalk and look at the Carousel in the entrance. We also like to visit the other resorts in the area. It is very relaxing and you are not obligated to buy anything and you are not inundated with shops like at DTD. Just enough excitement without being overstimulated.

My kids are `19, 17 and 15 and they have loved and still do love coming to the Boardwalk since they were very young. We do miss Brian though. He was the best.!!

Sorry I didn't mean to give the Boardwalk a bad interpretation. I really enjoy the whole area. We quite often go to the likes of Captain Gril or Cape May then take a walk from Yacht club round to Boarkwalk to look at Wyndham gallery and browse shops like ESPN, Bakery and Disney Store. There is always entertainment like magicians and performers.
The other thing I enjoy is the peaceful quiet atmosphere.

While I believe the Boardwalk has more to offer to adult guests than families, I want to add the following for those who travel with children:

* The Beach & Cream restaurant, in the Beach Club.

* The Boardwalk lobby, which features great objects inspired by the Atlantic City Boardwalk, including mock-ups of a carrousel and a roller coaster.

* The Fantasy Gardens miniature golf is close to this area (walk through the Swan & Dolphin and the tunnel below the street). Boarding the friendship boat at Epcot or DHS to S&D is a way to shorten the walk, whether it is an issue.

I was more joking about being upset.

Thanks everyone! I'm excited to check it out! I think we are planning on meandering over here after some time at Epcot and will just enjoy whatever we find - we love exploring new parts of Disney. I haven't yet been to Beaches and Cream, and that was part of our plan too. Looking forward to it!!

Just stand on the bridge that leads to Epcot. Watching people pedal up that incline (which I guess is a lot steeper than it looks) is probably the best entertainment on the Boardwalk. :thumbsup2

If you plan on more than a simple ice cream (walk up), make sure you make an ADR for Beaches and Cream. Especially if you want to sit in a booth/table.

Otherwise, there really isn't much at the Boardwalk. And Beaches and Cream isn't at the Boardwalk; it's right between the Beach Club and Yacht Club.

That is true, but it is easy to go whether the first poster wants to do a "roundtrip" from and to Epcot, around Crescent lake. Otherwise, there is another shop for ice cream, on the Boardwalk, between the Kouzzina and Flying Fish restaurants.
