We're thinking about going to WL (or Cont) in September. The quotes I'm getting now are for the rack rate. I know there is a potential for future codes, but with AAA do you get the discount now? What is the discount?

We're looking at going for 4 nights and right now I'm getting a room only rate of $914.32 which according to the CM is $205/night.

Any help is appreciated

TIA

Yes you get the discounts now with AAA. You just call and tell them you would like such and such a room and you would like the AAA rate. You will need to give your AAA number to the CM.

There are a certain number of rooms avail at resorts so you might need to be flexible with your dates and resorts.

The discounts are:
20% off values and moderates during value seaon
15% off deluxe

15% off values and moderates during regular and peak season
10% off deluxe

No discounts during holiday season.

I joined. I didn't get much of a discount because it was only for 3 nights in a value hotel, but the discount covered the cost of joining. It was kind of like getting the AAA membership for free and it's always nice to know that I can get a free tow of flat fix if i never need it.

It helps if you have an AAA office close by. There's one near my office so I stop in often for tour books and maps. We've also used the towing feature a few times. We only have the basic membership. We've used it for hotel discounts and theme park tickets. They also offer discounts on Disney World Passes. There is a limited number of AAA rooms, so book early if possible.:)

I definately think it is worth it to join AAA. If you join, you should consider their credit card. You get rebate $ when you use the credit card. This can be used for future trips. For example, I booked through AAA for my August 2005 trip. I did not get the AAA discount, because I took the free dining. I got a $25 gift certificate back, which I had to use by this March on a package. I also got a recent $50 rebate from my AAA credit card (By the way this card gives you 5% back on all gas purchases - I use it strictly for that reason).

As it turns out I rented DVC points for an 7 night stay this November. I booked my first night at POP with my park tickets at the AAA rate so it would be a package. I have already applied my $75 rebates to this package. Any more rebates that I get from my credit card, I will continue to apply them to my package. The way I look at it, my room at POP is costing $30.

The AAA agent that I use is very responsive and seems to know her Disney. I like get the Diamond parking pass. If a code comes out before your package starts, the agent can rebook your package. If you are staying at a mod or deluxe resort the cost savings pays for your membership for a few years. AAA also gives out lots of free travel books and maps to its members that you can order on line.

AAA is worth joining! Never mind the disc's you get.... its a piece of mind! What if you break down on the side of the road. They will tow you or change your tire. Thats the main reason i join AAA every year. The discounts are just icing on the cake! Not to mention getting free maps and travel books.

Do you have to book through AAA or can you book through Disney and give them your AAA info? I already have ressies with the spring code ($70 savings..not great, but helpful) and wonder if I can call and use my AAA membership for a discount as well. Is it too late for a May 29 trip?

You can get the AAA room-only rate through Disney, but only AAA agents can book a package with the AAA discount.

I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but I don't think you can use the spring code and AAA discounts together.

AAA is definitely worth it! I just saved over $300 on a package for 6 nights at the Poly the week before Christmas. I have an AP, but we really want to get the dining plan, so AAA is the only way we can get a discount, unless Disney offers some special deal.

Just be aware that some AAA offices charge a $25.00 PER PERSON cancellation fee for canceling anytime after the deposit is given (in addition WDW's 45 day package cancellation policy).

Word to the wise - ask before you book

What's the Preferred parking at the parks? Do you show a card or something? I'm presuming it's closer to the gates but how close?
