Tell me about 50s Prime Time

We just got back from WDW and had a great time at 50s Primetime. Our "Uncle" Tim was a lot of fun, as was the other server in the section Tom. The food was pretty good and the atmosphere was fantastic. We were all adults in our group, but we did notice that Tim was not really chastising the kids at other tables. Although several times when he delivered something to one table, he did yell "Hey Elbows" to someone else.

I was a little apprehensive about this dining choice as I don't always love to be the center of attention, but it wasn't bad at all. We had so much fun there that it's the only place my DH requested we go back to.

My family loved this place. Our server was fantastic. Just like someone here already mentioned, if you go to the bathroom make sure you pay special attention to the soap. The server may quiz you on it. ;)

We LOVE this place! The first time I experienced it I went with a friend's family.. one family member was a special needs girl. They were great with her, and didn't pick on her; but instead treated her exactly if she was a part of the whole thing as well! She really loved it, and I know that it just made the entire thing better for her.

The last time I went was on my engagement trip, and since we had just gotten engaged a few nights before, our server put napkins on our heads that she made to look like a top hat/veil, and brought out a cupcake with a candle in it. She also took my fork and made me eat my veggies while everyone in the room was making train noises.

I'm the one who generally doesn't mind being the center of attention, and DF usually gets picked on for being so shy... but it was completely the other way around here! I got picked on, and he absolutely LOVED it. He still picks on me when I don't eat all of my veggies now!

Absolutely try the meatloaf, it is the only thing I will order there, because it is AMAZING and tastes just like my mother's! Also try the electric lemonade if you are up for alcohol :woohoo:

I've read about how the servers scold you for not eating your veggies. But I'm wondering what else they do in there? What type of antics? Is this a good place for a 2 and 3 yr old? Or would they server telling you what to do be intimidating for them? Tell me what to expect!

Also, how is the food? Is the fried chicken good? Looks awsome! What else is good there and does anyone know if they bring out anything special a 2 yr old like buttered noodles or rice or anything?

THANKS!

Thanks for asking this Picabo. My son has picked this as one of his choices for our upcoming trip and I was wondering this myself.

When we come to WDW with a newbie - and that tends to be just about every trip - 50's is a must-do for us, just because it can *potentially* be the quintessential Disney experience. It does rise and fall on the server, and so far, we've had servers who were top-notch, into character, etc. Once with a party of ten - six of those teenagers, and all girls - the server got a read on our group, realized they could take the heat, and gave us a meal to remember. It was a joy from beginning to end, and our server played that "aunt" role to the max. She brought out a photo album with pictures of all our cousins, railed against elbows on the table, and I had to stand in the corner because I told on one of the girls because she wasn't eating her veggies.

The food is basic comfort stuff - I tend toward the meat loaf, DW likes the roast, and a PB&J milkshake is a great addition.

I highly recommend it. Some folks don't. Your call.

We eat there every year as our first sit down meal.
Two years ago, something happened, and my wife said "oh expletive"
The server heard her, said "hey potty mouth, up against the wall"
and had my wife stand against the wall with her nose pressed against a sugar packet (probably for sterility) and had everyone in the room shout "shame shame" before she could sit back down.

The kids loved it.
