I've read about how the servers scold you for not eating your veggies. But I'm wondering what else they do in there? What type of antics? Is this a good place for a 2 and 3 yr old? Or would they server telling you what to do be intimidating for them? Tell me what to expect!

Also, how is the food? Is the fried chicken good? Looks awsome! What else is good there and does anyone know if they bring out anything special a 2 yr old like buttered noodles or rice or anything?

THANKS!

50's PTC is one of my favorite places. We went there this past Sept & we have a 3 yr old. The server had our son set the table, but he asked our son to do it in a fun/appropriate way - not an intimidating way at all. As for other antics, our server held up my plate as an example to the rest of his tables on how you should clean your plate - he said he could even see my tongue print on it because I did such a good job. The food is good - it's not great/gourmet, but I really enjoy it - my personal favorite is the pot roast. My wife has gotten the fried chicken and has enjoyed it. I don't know if they would have any special food items to offer you or not for your 2 yr old - our 3 yr old had the chicken strips.

I think the food here is pretty good. I have enjoyed the pot roast, meat loaf, fried chicken and stuffed pepper (fried chicken is my favorite).

We have never had a server that did any antics. Yes, we've had to set the table and we've been told to eat our veggies but that's been the extent of it. We must look no nonsense because we've certainly eaten here plenty of times and have yet to experience anything funny.

This is good to know b/c I'm not so sure how much I'd enjoy it myself! Especially if the server told the entire restaurant that I licked my plate clean! (As PP said!) :rotfl2:

I think the servers are pretty good at deciding who can handle the antics and who cannot. Also, some servers don't get into it as much as others. Our server was pretty chill about the antics, and just did a couple of remarks, but nothing too serious. There was another table with a different server that had it more severe. I thought the food was yummy because I'm a big fan of comfort food. I had the fried chicken and ate it all. I also never eat dessert but could not resist the s'mores and they did not disappoint. I also hear the pot roast is really good too.

This past December I went there for dinner with three of my friends who are from Orlando and one of them did not finish all their vegtables, so our our server took his fork and started to feed him his vegtables while making an airplane noise.

As for the food my favorite thing is the Meatloaf and in the past I have also had the Stacked Sandwich.

Our waitress told my DH it was rude to keep his hat on at the table. He either put it back on or never took it off ( I don't remember!). She finally came and snatched it right off his head and hung it up on a nearby peg!

She hasseled my kids about cleaning up afterwards. I think they accidently spilled some sauce, and she came with ketchup, squirted it all over the table, and told them to clean it. You should have seen their faces!

She scolded us about not cleaning their plates.
It was a lot of fun! The atmosphere-decorations are great!!

Sounds like a lot of fun! i have always wanted to try it, but we always end up at the Sci-Fi or Mama Melrose. I am putting it on our must try for next time!

You should go ready to have a good time with lots of antics, but ready to accept it if there are no antics. We've experienced both and it can be a little disappointing if there are no jokes at all. But the food is fairly good comfort food - go for that reason, but be pleasantly surprised if there is extra fun!

Can you request a calm experience? My dds are pretty shy and probably would be in tears if they got picked on but would enjoy watching others. I'd love to go and check it out next trip, but I'd rather observe for our first visit.

I don't see why not. I would try asking at check in. Disney is always willing to accommodate guests.

I've seen servers be really gentle with little ones--it's the adults/teenagers they mostly pick on. With little kids they're more like "make sure you watch your mom to be sure she eats all her veggies and doesn't feed them to the dog!" (The "mom" told the server that she was getting an extra tip for that--because she was actually the grandmother! )

That said, if you go to the bathroom during the meal, pay close attention to what sort of soap is in the restroom.

DH, DS (now 19) and I have been going to 50's Prime Time since DS was 7. We all still LOVE it. They do not "pick on" the little ones. Just beware if anyone in your party shows up late:rotfl2: The frappes are fantastic!!

I remember enjoying our meal there. The one thing that stuck out was when my 4 year old finished his meal, the server took his plate, inspected it, and said "yup, you ate up good, so you are ready for dessert!". A few minutes later he came out with a huge ice cream sundae with toppings (including cracker jacks). It was so big we all ate it (ds2, grandma, grandpa and daddy!)

I was a little shocked and couldn't wait to get the bill for that thing. It was only $4 extra.... I think that was the best deal in Disney!

We've eaten there a few times with the second to last time being about five years ago. After that meal we vowed to never go back - bad food but ok service. Then after reading some recent good reviews of the place we decided to give it another try this past March. Needless to say this was our opinion - :crazy2: and we have once again vowed to never go back. Bad food and even worse service, we were very disappointed. :sad2:

We really enjoyed it. My kids were 5, 3 and 1 when we went. They aren't mean or anything. Definitely did not tease the kids. More about teasing the parents (probably when little kids around)...telling dad to eat his vegetables or no dessert type thing. Calling everyone around us cousins - our server was our aunt. That type of thing. It is one of the few restaurants my DH feels strongly about going back to. Loved the sundaes!

The fried chicken there was amazing. The skin was crispy and the chicken was moist. There was a leg, a thigh and a huge breast. I ate the leg and thigh and a little of the breast, I am a dark meat person, so I didn’t really care for the breast. The mashed potatoes that came with it were also good. Unfortunately, I forgot to tell Aunt Elaine (our server) that I did not want the collard greens and wanted another veggie. I piled my chicken bones on top of the greens and got chastised for not eating my veggies and trying to hide them. All of the cousins sitting around us got to shame me. The interaction was not overboard.
