My first trip to WDW was in 75. So I have been going for a long time. Somehow we have never managed to eat at 50's Prime Time. We are going again May 2011. Is it worth it.

Oh yeah... it takes you back in time.. great atmosphere, great theming.

Remember to eat all your veggies, and elbows off the table!!!

I assume since you are a returning Disney lover that you have a sense of humor and a love of all things Disney! SO... yes... 50's PT is worth it! We LOVE it! It's a must every time we go. We love the food although some don't, but the atmosphere is great! Set up like Moms or Grandmas kitchen in the 50's right down to the black and white tv's and all the classic tv shows! Some servers are more into than others, but if you are lucky you will be entertained and fyi... its more fun if you play along! Keep your elbows off the table, set the table and clean your plate! LOL... just so you know.... they may push you to do things but in the end, its your decision! Some actually listen which is quite humorous! I always substitute the things I don't like with things I do so there are no worries! :thumbsup2
If you are paying OOP you may want to do lunch as the menu is the same but cheaper. Just a thought! :goodvibes

we loved the food there and the atmosphere was great. it was like we were back in time. the food tasted home made and the helpings were very large. we did not walk away hungry from there. our waiter was fun and would go back there in heart beat. when you go you should try to pot roast. it was great

Yummy food (great shakes and desserts!), fun atmosphere...what's not to love?

Quick tip, if you go to the bathroom, make sure you note the soap color...you might get quizzed when you get back to the table :rotfl2:

we went in 05 and had a good server. then we rebooked and went this april and had an awesome server! he was totally into the role and the food was great. def. try the pb and j shake. to die for!!! we have it booked again for next february.

I have been to 50's Prime Time Cafe multiple times for both lunch and dinner and each time it's been a wonderfull experience, plus the food was always tasted great.

We just ate there last week... we won't be returning!
I was prepared for the "antics"... but our server didn't do a whole lot... mostly at the beginning she told us to keep our elbows off the table and made us set our own table... that was it! (She may have gotten the vibe that DM wasn't into it, but I wanted some antics and actually put my elbows on the table to get some... but was ignored) The server at the next table was TOO INTO IT he screamed so loudly he scared us.... but that isn't the only reason we didn't care for it.... let's just say that we had to file a claim with Disney for damages to personal property!

It is one of our must dos every trip. Atmosphere is great and food is really good, IMO.

50s PTC is a restaurant that you'll get a wide variety of responses to. I'm in the "never eat there again" group. The first time we ate there in 1999 it was great - great food and great service. Ate there again a few years later and food wasn't as good, service was still good. Ate there again and food and service were just bad - the only highlights was the adorable older gentleman that walked us to our table who was very pleasant to talk with. My meatloaf was ok, nothing great, DH's pot roast was more fat than meat, our order came out wrong the first time, our desserts were wrong and we never got the rolls that we asked for because (according to our server) even though they share a kitchen with Hollywood & Vine and she could get us rolls she wasn't going to.

Unfortunately, the server participation is often hit or miss. One year we went and my DH had to eat his ice cream with a bib and stand in the corner. It was pretty funny and we had a great time.

The last time we sat in the main dining room, the two of us got placed in the middle of 2 families that were together and the waitress practically ignored us.

That being said - the fried chicken, meatloaf and pot roast remind you of the comfort food you got for Sunday dinner as a kid and I would highly recommend it.

It is awesome! I love the 1950's kitch and charm, the food is awesome and if you get a great server that is really into the "game" you will have a blast!

Same thing happened to me "Uncle Tim" asked what color the soap was I didnt remember and had to go "rewash" But To this day I wont forget the color of the soap there LOL

Put me on the "we loved it" side of the fence. My niece downed her cherry coke so quick that our "cousin" brought her a pitcher of cherry coke with a straw in it. I'm taking my Mom in December for her first time and I'm hoping she will have a good time!

50's is a must do for us every trip. Usually do lunch. Servers are great fun, atmosphere is great and the food wonderful every time. If you are willing to play along, then this should be at the top of your to-do list.

We were fortunate in that we got a walk-up seating in a rainstorm in the middle of free dining. Not easy to say the least.

The fried chicken was amazing (they practically gave DH the whole chicken) and my pot roast was exquisite, although small.

Our server interaction was just enough...eat your veggies, set the table, razzing on "Dad"...DH in particular had a hoot.

When did this happen?

Everybody should try 50's Prime Time Cafe at least once. The experience oozes Disney, and I guarantee you will remember, if not love, your meal there. The enthusiasm and quality of your server will define your opinion of Prime Time, so make a reservation and hope you catch someone in a particularly playful mood!

Thanks for the input everyone. I think we will try it. If we don't like it we may not go back for a while. We are all big kids at heart so if we get a good server then I am sure we will like it. My kids will try anything at least once.
